Thumbs up

I am looking at both the Eiback Pro-Kit and Pro-system. I know the kit is only the springs.

I had installed a kit on one of my cars back in 95 but found it was a little rough. Looking at the Pro-System it sounds like it would be a smoother ride but is it really worth the huge difference in price.

Anyone that has either of these kits let me know what you think of them.

It's only about $250 more than the pro-system.

You could always have it installed in the states, then you don't have to pay any of that extra stuff.

First I need to find out what people think of just the Pro-Kit. I'd rather just replace the springs instead of the struts and shocks as well. I don't mind if the ride is a little rougher but I don't want to feel every little crack in the road either since I drive over 60 miles a day to and from work.

Have you changed your tires yet? I got the Pro Kit and had 35's on my new rims and the ride was harder, but not spine-jarring. I was driving my car freeway, local streets, etc and the only problem I had was that railroad crossings which once were minor bumps became bone-shakers!

I never raced my car, it was my daily driver (when I was home), so I didn't want it too harsh. The Pro Kit did exactly what I wanted it to - stiffened the car up a little and lower it to a very nice stance. If you keep the stock rims/tires, or have a decent amount of sidewall, then you should be ok.

Thanks for the info. I have not changed my tires yet but they are on order. 40 series in the rear and 45 series in the front. I just got an updated price on the Pro-System and nearly pooped-me-pants. $1,040.00 Canadian + tax. Doh, darn near $1,200.00. Looks like I will need to get these in the states and drive em back across the border.

Edit: I think I have decided NOT to go with the Pro-Kit. Sounds like the ride would be no different than the kit I bought in 95. On my way to work I cross 4 sets of railroad tracks.

Who knows. I might change my mind and not lower it at all.

I see from your sig you got the SCT Xcalibrator. Noticeable difference? What did it do?

Have yet to DYNO the car. I got the tune because I installed the MMR intake kit and my engine light came on. All I can say is I definately notice a difference in the 2,500-4,000 rpm range. I should have it dyno'd soon, most likely after I install the CDC Shaker.

Adrenalin,
I put 45 series tires on my pony and noticed a tremendous difference in ride quality, it is more jarring when going accross inconsistent areas of pavement. Let us know which kit you pick, I am interested in getting springs myself. Also, are you planning on doing the install yourself or having it done?

I have stock tires and got the Pro Eibach springs. They fit great. Lowered the car 1.5 inch on the rear. I did it myself. But that's the rear. I have not had time to do the front. Have it scheduled at a shop in 2 weeks. A little more work to get them off. As for the ride, I paid special attention before I made the change. I can not feel any difference. I just hated it was jacked up in the back. Looks mean now. Go to www.cardomain.com/id/onebad2005gt and click on page 3 for a side view. Pictures on the left of that page were before. Ones on the right were after. The side view with the window tint is after. Hope this helps.

I plan on doing the install myself. A local shop loans out the spring compressors so I can do the front with no problems. Heard it takes about 1 1/2 hours each side. I am use to lifting/lowering jeeps/cars so it shouldn't be too difficult.

Still contemplating on what to do. I think I will wait until after my new rims and tires are installed and go from there.

I think the Pro Kit, Pro-System, and Pro-System-Plus all lower it the same amount.

You are right, they do, you just get different parts with each kit.
Pro-kit - springs only
Pro-System - springs, struts, bump stops
Pro System Plus - springs, struts, bumps stops, sway bars.

All lower the same amount.

Just each step up is suppose to give better handling. I am just thinking that the Pro-system not only will lower the car but give it a smoother ride than the pro-kit. Then again that is what they claim but I have heard that the struts are stiffer resulting in a stiffer ride.

Now I am hearing about issues after lowering the car regarding control arms, tire rubbing, etc....

I guess I will wait until I put my rims and tires on first, if I can ever get the backspacing sorted out.

Any reason you are not considering the Steeda springs? I am looking to get some springs myself and I was leaning towards Steeda.

The reason I am leaning towards Eibach is that they have it packaged in different kits, makes it a lot easier when buying then Steeda which has all the parts seperate.

I can buy Eibach springs locally whereas Steeda I would need to order to California or something. Also I have found a lot of info on the Eibach's but all I found on Steeda was the problem with the front springs.
