Well, to satisfy everyone's curiosity (mostly my own), I sprung for two pulls on a Dynojet this afternoon:

#1 266.3 HP @ 5200, 287.7 Ft-Lb @ 4300
#2 265.5 Hp @ 5700, 288.1 Ft-Lb @ 4300

Down considerably from Dyno Dynamics 285-287 numbers

Now we know.

Kinda stinks that we have 3 to choose from: Mustang Dyno, DynoJet and Dyno Dynamics - and they don't match up :P

Don't forget Superflow , which is a loaded dyno vs the DynoJet which isn't ... When I was at Diablo for them to work out the tune for the Steeda CAI and CM plates , they did a pull with the Steeda SCT tune still in. We got exactly the same HP of 304 as the last time at Steeda. However the TQ was considerably lower , it went from 320.1 to 304. The conditions on both day were about the same , so you would expect the numbers to be close. At the time I didn't think to ask Scott about this , but I'm assuming it's due to the loaded vs non-loaded dyno's. He said the loaded one gave more real life figures , i.e. what the car is really putting out when it has to pull it's own weight along the road. I guess this must affect the TQ more than the HP ...

 

We would like to add a little more info to this topic. We have a Dyno Dynamics dyno and the average numbers that we have seen on stock 05's 259-265 rwhp and 280-290 rwtq...based on 10 05's that we have dyno'd so far.

We also have 2 local dynojets, one just dyno'd a new 05 last week...it made 269 rwhp and 291 rwtq with NO MODS! Those numbers are higher than any 05 we have dyno'd so far.

Redfire, was the car dyno'd on the same day with the same weather conditions?

All we're saying is that you CAN'T make a blanket statement that all Dyno Dynamics dyno's read higher than Dynojets.

 

I will agree with what you say. However, I will say that there seems to be too many discrepancies between dynos to even compare 'rwhp/rwtq ratings'.

Hey guys- you CAN NOT compare readings between different dynos - too many factors play a roll-

Putting your car on the dyno is fun- but the variance can be great-

Just factoring in things like- temperature, humididty, elevation, exc can effect the results-

The real benefit from a dyno is tuning-

Then factor in the many types of dynos- there is no right dyno or wrong dyno- but they all have different features that help with tuning-

We actually have several types of dynoes here as some are better for some kinds of tuning then others-

 

I don't disagree; I just think it is odd for such a large industry to manufacture the "same equipment" that give different results with such as big variance per manufacture.

You could compare this too many manufactures designing a torque wrench. If they do not somewhat match, which is right ?

Considering most car, truck, etc are bench spec’ed by hp and tq, you would hope for an industry standard. That’s all

No they weren't done on the same day. Yesterday's Dynojet was cooler (maybe close to 10 F cooler) and likely more humid. This morning's humidity is 78% which is probably up slightly from yesterday at 5:00 as weather is turning for the worse. It was fair on both days of the Dynamics. The thing about the Dynamics pulls were the drastic inconsistencies from one pull to the next until they turned off atmospheric correction. I think that then equates to STD values rather than SAE? On the first three Dynamics pulls it read 269, 285, 274. On the return visit, the first 5 were like 267, 283, 272, 286, 277. Then with correction off, 287 & 285. These are all stock with Bassani axleback which is maybe adding about 5~6.

I thought correction was supposed to compensate for temperature, barometric pressure and humidity as well as elevation so you shouldn't have to worry about those variables?

since i got my car and did the first dyno pull,through the mods and additional pulls i always used the same shop,same dyno,info mainly used for my benefit,to see value of improvements,as far as comparing to everyone elses....i gave up on that long ago,some claims for mods i had done were insane

 

Dan, what was your A/F ratio on each dyno? My concern is that my A/F ratio is 13.1 on a dynojet. I'm afraid my actual ratio is higher, especially when I'm at the track. I'm in the process of searching for a tuner and a dyno that can create load, which gives more realistic numbers. I don't care if my #'s are lower. I just care that I don't blow the motor and I'm getting the most potential out of my setup. What's aggravating is that I paid for a custom tune, but there was no tuning after a pull. It's pretty much making a baseline pull, install the tune, and make two other pulls. My tuner really doesn't want to tune anymore, from what I've heard. They want to sell boxed tunes and sell parts. I hear about them referring a lot of business to other tuners.

Looking at all of them A/F in the peak torque area is anywhere from 10.6 to 11.8
Remember, these are all stock w/Bassani axleback...

I agree, sounds like you need to find a new tuner!
