Dumb Performance Question

I am definately NOT driving my car for performance. I am probably wasting a good GT, at least until now. I swear that there was some cosmic force preventing me from having any opportunity to romp on it today while coming home from work. Lotsa traffic. I am planning cosmetic mods and hoping for a nice hobby taking my car to local car shows.

Seriously, man, sounds like you drive in the same conditions I do and here's something to get turned on to.....buddy of mine at work here is into the SCCA autocross stuff, and they hold cool little low-key events all the time. Great opportunity to get out on a closed course and open 'er up, and the worst thing that can happen to you is you'll knock over a coupla cones. Of course, he has a Triumph TR6 with a Ford 351 Windsor V8 and a stroker crank to make it 408 cubes and oevr 500HP, with a 4-speed toploader trans, (shaker hood scoop too, quite a trip on that lil' brit car) so he runs with the big boys. Heck, he IS the big boy I guess! But it's a pretty cool crowd and they seem pretty friendly helping out new folks. Something to check out in your area...I'll bet they choose rock-free driving sites too. Kinda makes sense to check it out y'know?
Great way to get to know your car and have some harmless, legal fun, and really learn how to wring this car out. Tel th'wife and kids that "learning to control a car like this is the responsible thing to do, honey"!
Website if anyone's interested......I'm feelin the urge myself, that's for sure......

I am having the time of my life with my 05. Waited like 40 years to get another Mustang and going to enjoy it full tilt. One thing I learned the hard way growing up in Chicago, no matter how tough you think you are - there will always be someone tougher.........same goes for fast. Your GT will do itself proud, so enjoy it, mod it to your heart's content, and have FUN!

You guys are probably right. I gotta start having fun. What a great idea, Stoopy! SCCA! I even found some local events! I bookmarked the links. Thanks! I'll just have to wait until that hood arrives next week to decide how to make it functional, but a CAI is probably the way I'll go. I checked out Bamachips website, and they say that tuning your car DOES void the warranty. That is why you flash it back to stock before having it serviced. I think I'll try and find a CAI that doesn't require a tune, ie K&N or Ford Racing. Thanks for all the feedback!

Glad ya like the idear! Like was said above, life's too short - go have fun, this car is made for it, and from the few SCCA'ers I know personally, they're REAL good people. And ya won't tear your car up or get a ticket. Have a ball man!
