Hi everyone, I just bought me a Steeda CAI kit. I have read a lot about pros and cons with oiled air filters and just wonder if there is any direct replacement dry airfilters that will go with the Steeda kit. Any recomendations?

Ulf ! there's 2 companies which offer dry replacement filters. You can select from either AEM or AMSOIL.. Personally. I prefer Amsoil, as they've been in the performance industry much longer than AEM, but you certainly won't be disappointed..as both really offer high quality filters.

So are you tossing your oiled filter that came with it? I guess I havent read into the oil/no oil filters. Whats the pros/cons your talking about?

 

Colby- some of the reusable oiled filters can foul the MAF, so with the Amsoil or other filters - no problem

Basically, they are constructed using a superfine mesh and material combo, though for other applications (imports) I have seen just metal filter type cone filters.

 

Basicly the oiled filters are supposed to do a little better job filtering and capture particles, but in the longer run some of the oil may foul the MAF and Thottle body. This may be a result of over oiling when cleaning and reoil the filters so there may not be a issue if being qarfull when applying oil. With dry filters there ofcourse is no such conserns. There is many threads about cleaning the MAF or TB to fix ideling issues and many of the people that have done that is long time users of CAI systems.
