There are a few choices out there now. From what I've seen they are all good. Dennys is commnly used and seems good.
I have the Coast 4" aluminum drive shaft and I'm very impressed with it. It weighs just under half what the stock one does and makes a noticable difference.

Probably wouldn't go with the Denny's. Too many vibration issues that I have heard of. I have a Spyder 1 piece and couldn't be happier!

Read all about it~ http://www.leonardracingproducts.com/

What are the benefits of a 1-piece driveshaft? Besides weight reduction...

Spools up you motor much quicker and weighs half as much. It's a great mod IMO and I'm not a drag racer.

TacoBill runs the Coast and it's a good shaft too.

I bought one, a 4" with the adapter, but I haven't installed it yet. It looks to be very well made though.

I prefer the Spydershaft because it doesn't use the adapter. That is what we sell.

And what exactly is the issue with using an adapter?

I wouldn't call it an issue, but it's my preference not to use one.

You have many possible problems with a spacer. Will you encounter any of these issues? Probably not, but if you can eliminate it, then you're one step ahead. Spacers do change the geometry of the drive shaft a bit since it moves the universal further away from either the trans or the pinion flange. It's also possible for the spacer to induce vibration even if the DS is balanced correctly. Are the DS manufacturers balancing the DS's with the spacer or without?

I can't answer all the questions above, but I don't have to, because I don't use a spacer.

The simplier you can make a modification, the less possible points of failure you introduce to the system.

I'm one that will never use one with an adaptor. Went through 7 installs, just as many pinion angle adjustments and plenty of phone time with the manufacturer. Could never get it to work. It would cause really bad vibrations.

Slapped a Spydershaft in and no more problems.

i agree with your thinking. i was going to get the spyder because of some horror stories i have heard in the past with driveshafts that used adapters. however, i got a killer deal on a coast that i couldnt pass up. glad to say that i have no problems at all with my coast. acceleration is clearly quicker and smoother. definately a worthwhile mod.
