Dragracing your automatic

I am planning on taking my 07 GT to the track soon and was wondering what rpm do you launch an automatic at and do you leave traction control on or off. The only mods to the car are C&L CAI, Brenspeed 93 tune, axle back exhaust and 20x9 wheels with Nitto 555s. Stock 3.31 gears. Any ideas what it should run in the 1/8th et and mph? I have a supercharged 89 that I have run in the 1/8 but it's a manual. I am totally new to the automatic tranny for dragracing.

Definitely turn TCS off. And powerbrake it on the line until you feel it "load up" (right before it breaks loose). I can't say what rpm that will be, but somewhere between 1500-2000 probably. The 20's aren't going to help you, but the 3.31s may help prevent too much spin. Depending on the altitude, weather, track prep and traction of course, you might see anywhere between 8.7 - 9.2, at about 80mph +/- a couple.

Thanks. I figure I will leave the spare behind and run the tank down to milk all I can out of it. I got a grudge race with a 93 coupe, gt40 heads, TFS intake and B-cam. Since we will both be on radials I am hoping to get him on traction and quicker shifting of the auto.

You'd better take that spare out if you're running up against a H/C/I coupe. If those heads aren't ported you may have a shot, but if they have a decent port job you're in for a spankin'.

I did something crazy, i put her in 2nd gear and the sucker launched at 2800-3000 RPM and i was just messing around on the street and in 3rd it feels like it can load around 3200-3500 RPM but i do not think that is safe

H/C/I coupe stock weight on street tires will run 8.60s-8.90s, drag radials is a different story, 8.0-8.30s. Oh well, if I loose I'll just take my coupe next time and spank him badly
