drag radials on STOCK rims?
#1
i have the stock (8.5in?) brushed aluminum upgraded rims on my gt, and have gone thru all 4 tires more or less now. i want to get some street legal drag radials for the back (and put the current back ones on the shelf as replacements for the front in a few thousand miles).
MT makes a nice e/t street radial tire, but does NOT seem to make it in 255/anything/17, and has a 235 (too narrow, but i could live with it), but only for 15in rim. bf goodrich doesnt say what sizes they have their kdw street radials in. are there any good alternatives.
i REALLY dont want to buy new rims right now.
thanks for the help.

ps...spendin the grad money on stainlessworks long tubes, pulleys, these tires, and a dyno tune, with the goal of sub-12.5 this summer

Geoff, I've got the 275/40 17's on my upgraded rims, M/T ET Drag Radials. There is quite a bulge on the sidewall, but it fits, and the tire store where I bought them said there should be no issue with it as 8 inches is the lowest listed that you could go on a 275 tire. I'm running 32 pounds in them and they worked good for me last week. Eventually I'll buy some 17x10's to put them on, but right now can't see spending the money on them.
Oh, and of course, putting the 275/40 on will void the warranty on the wheel from ford as it's not the "RECOMMENDED" tire size.
