I'm going to the drags this weekened and had a quick question. I have a stick, and i shouldn't have to shift it to 4th gear when racin the 1/4 mile right?

what gears and do you have a tuned program? Okay, nevermind. If you are 4.10's/4.30's on the gears-1/4 mile, yes into 4th. No tune and at a 1/4 mile track, you will have to shift into 4th. It's right at 6000 rpm at the 1/4. If you have stock gears and a tune, you can stay in 3rd.

That don't sound right. Did you have your rev limiter removed or moved up? With the stock gears, and tune, I was finishing in 3rd right at 6000 rpm. My rev limiter is set at 6700 rpm so the gas doesn't cut out. 4th gear will cost you quite a bit. I currently have 4.10's and I do shift into 4th, but am getting 1.7's in the 60'.

With my tune, my peak hp is flat from 5800-6300, so I keep it in 3rd. Of course this is due to the time spent shifting results in hp loss, worse ET.

you are running VERY strong for such minimal mods. practically knocking on the door to 12s. My guess is you either have a factory freak, an outstanding tune, exemplory driving skills, or some combination thereof. In any case, congrats

Don't get me wrong, those are great numbers. I just know that if you're shifting into another gear, it'll cost you time. Do you have a dyno graph of your car. It will tell you what your peaks are and where you should be shifting. That's what I've gone by atleast.

Wow! That is quick for stock with a tune...I agree, you must have gotten lucky and grabbed one of the "freak" cars putting out phenomenal power!
