1. Do you run the automatic in the 1320 with it in drive and let it shift out on it's own? I found it does stretch-out well. But what about the overdrive? Do you leave it on or run it as a 4 speed automatic? Also does it even get in overdrive if you put a gear in it?

2. What gear do you go with a 4.10 or 4.30? I do use this car every day. Will this really help the bottom end get going and pull harder to the lights? As the stock 3.31 feels like a Sunday cruise in the traps(mph light and finish line) with little pull when it hits overdrive(lack of H.P.).

Thanks for the help.

I would go with 3.73 on the auto and turn the overdrive off at the strip.

I agree with Greywolf. 3.73 should make a awesome gear on an auto and still be very streetable. Also, I don't believe your car is going into overdrive. What you are feeling is the large split between 3rd and 4th.

I am going with a 4:10 in my automatic. Leave the OD on . I drive very little on the interstate.

You know the easiest solution that I'm sure someone must have thought of by now is run it once with overdrive on and onece with it off, then you'll know for sure

My '88 had an AODE in it.. I always pulled it down into 1 myself.... but the gear selection was goofy (1-D-OD). I can't say if it's still the same way. I pulled it into first, then power braked it at the line to get as many RPMs as I could with out breaking the tires loose.... then at the green light, I'd hold it to the redline, then kick it up into D to hit second, then pulled it back into first... the computer wouldn't let it go to first, so I could hold 2nd as long as I wanted. Then at the redline I'd kick it to D again so it'd go into 3rd. Of course, if I had just started in drive or overdirve, I wouldn't get anything more than about 5300 RPMs out of it...
That's how I was able to get better ETs. Now, I don't know how the new auto is set up, but I'd give it a run in D and let it hit the factory shift points, then make another pull manually shifting each gear to see if you get better ETs.... in the manuals, I know ETs have been better shifting at about 5500RPMs than they are if you go to 6250.... so the factory shift points might be the optimal time to shift anyways.
Now, the OD setting might change the way the valve body sends pressure to the converter... it might allow the tranny to slip a little bit more between shifts instead of giving you a positive lockout. My E4OD in my Bronco did that to make a smoother ride, but it created a lot of friction/heat and it will wear pretty hard on your tranny.... that's why they recommended taking it out of OD for towing.... I don't know if this design does that or not... I don't know who they were catering their design to... if it was the Sunday driver who wants a smooth ride, or the weekend racer how wants a crisp shift. ... I'm never buying another auto in a sports car... ever ever ever... I drive too hard for them.

Hope this helps...
