i apologize in advance if this topic has been covered already, i did a search and couldn't find anything...
Anyway, is there some way you can permanitley disable the auto-on of the traction control so you have to turn it ON vs. OFF when you start the car? How would one go about doing this?

What I would like is the traction control to be off by default but can be enabled when I want to.
For example, when it rains or snows, I would like to be able to turn it on. If you disable it via a flash, I doubt you can turn it on when u want to withour a reflash.

I personally recommend leaving it on all the time. I have actually gotten better times 0-60 and 1/4 mile with it on. As much as 3/10's faster 0-60 and almost a half second in the 1/4 mile. The TC isn't going to hurt to have it on. Unless you specifically want to do a burnout, I'd leave it on. Safer that way too.

On the 99 - '04 GT's there was a guy who "reversed" the switch (somehow) so it was default off then could be turned on with the console switch.....I wish I remembered his company - perhaps a search of the 99 - 04 forum? I originally saw this on www.mustangworld.com several years ago.

It may have something to do with my SCT tune. But I swear I get faster times with it on.

There is a product out there to change the way an overdrive switch on an auto works, reverses it so that each time you start your vehicle, the OD is switched to OFF instead of ON which is reversed from the way it would come from the factory.
I have no idea if there is something similar for a TC switch, same concept but maybe a totally different animal.

Here you go:
http://www.partshopper.com/fordmustang/Ite...RACT-ADAPT.html
Not sure if it has been tested on the '05 yet, but it does exactly what you want.

Mine will do it and I purchased it in March. You can default it to off rather than on. I changed mine when I was doing the gear change.

That stinks, Mine doesn't have that option. I guess I need to go to Radio Shack and buy those cables, so that I can download the new programs.
Thanks for the heads up Mongoose.

I'm not sure why you want it off all the time? During normal driving it will save your butt for that one time when you get into a curve a bit too quick and you start to lose your tail-end.....Even a good driver can misjudge sometimes. Plus, wet conditions etc....
Only two instances I'd turn it off:
1. To smoke up those tires
2. To get through deep snow.

TC won't save you in a curve, since it doesn't have a yaw sensor. If our cars had stability control, then it would be beneficial to keep it on all the time. GM has a great system in their Vette, especially the Competition mode.

True, this traction control retards the timing in the motor so that the motor doesn't make enough power to turn the tires over. I wish mine didn't have it at all. I tried to rev to about 6,000 in 2nd gear at about 30mph and dump the clutch racing, and the car bogged / fell on it's face, and then took off....talk about looking like an idiot....all of this was on tape too. Traction control is only needed up north....Not in middle GA.

Mine didn't have that option either. I posted about it on the Diablo support forum and got a response basically saying "wel it should", thanks. I just updated my Predator (also purchased in March) with the new r14 revision and mine still does not show traction control under the modify parameters. I wil be e-mailing and calling Diablo about it this week so I will post what I find out

This is the response I received from Diablo
ANSWER:
Dear
My mistake, the 2005 mustang Predator does not even offer the option to turn the traction control adjustment, we have not figured out how to toggle it yet and we have no eta on when it would be implemented.
Thank you for your interest in DiabloSport!
Stay tuned,
