talk about a cheesy mount...
It's insane that you just jam it in the valve cover buttresses and tighten it down. Couldn't they have made a better mount that fit flush on top of the valve cover hole?

I didn't use the mount.
It appeared to dig into my upper radiator hose - I thought that vibrations over time between the sharp point of the mount would eventually wear a hole into the hose.
Also, I don't like taking one of my valve cover bolts off - any time that happens it's an oil leak!!

The bracket is not supposed to be "jammed" into the gap in the valve cover. It is installed by placing it on top of the hole and then running the supplied bolt and washer though the bracket and valve cover. We have seen people try to use the rubber grommet that was in the stock bolt, and it was not intended to be used that way. I never thought that anyone would be led to believe that you are supposed to "jam" the bracked into the gap on the valve cover. As for the 2007, I was unaware that the valve covers were any different...

On my car, it is impossible to lay the bracket flush on top of the mounting hole, as the 2007 has large ribs. The closest the bracket can get to the hole is about 1cm. Here is a pic:
In my 1st post I said jam it between the butresses. This does not imply between the valve cover and head. The ribs in my picture *are* the butresses. The mount supplied will not lie flush with the valve cover tab because of them.
Am I just not explaining this right? ARG!

No, you have made things perfectly clear now. In your first post, the description led me to believe that you were trying to slide the end of the bracket "under" where the bolt goes through the valve cover.
It is now obvious to me that there is a difference in the valve covers used in the 2007 GT's. We were unaware that such a difference exists, and are sorry if you feel that this makes our bracket "cheesy" or "poorly designed". We will check into this and make whatever change is necessary so that other '07 owners do not have the same issue...

Lee don't get offended. A good way to prevent this confusion would be to include directions with photographs. Sure, these are easy to install, but if I saw a photo of the MAF mount installed I wouldn't have had to scratch my head for a half hour wondering what I was missing! I could have then looked at the photo, said "woah", and called you guys.
I am not offended, I just had absolutely no idea that the valve cover on the '07 was different. You know, when we developed the street intake assembly (It was first displayed at the PRI show in early December 2004), we knew that if we did not supply an additional support bracket with the kit, that we were bound to get slammed by some people who over-analyze what they purchase. These would typically be the same people who believe that an cast inlet pipe is "just a big heat sink that makes the air hotter", which is completely false. Here we are almost 2 years later, and a couple of kits have recently been released that are basically the same as ours, and they do not supply such additional support. I am not aware that people are saying bad things about the fact that they are not supplying a bracket like we do.
Guess it is one of those ****ed if you do, ****ed if you don't situtations. We have never had anyone complain to us about the bracket before, and hopefully, the reason for this is because the '07 is different, and I will make sure that we fix this. Given the fact that a couple of people posted that they used it without issue, I will assume that people with the '05-'06 models are not experiencing problems...

Alternative Auto in Michigan installed a C & L street intake on our 07 GT along with a dyno tune.
I am very pleased with the results. I just looked closely at the MAF bracket and on our car it fits perfect. It does not interfere with anything, it fits perfectly between the " butresses" on the valve cover and rest on top of the valve cover. I have taken pictures but have no idea of how to re-size them for the forum. I do not know if Alternative Auto modified the bracket but it does not appear so. Seems to be a very solid, clean , OEM look install.
