The factory intake has butterfly valves that remain partially closed at lower RPMs to supposedly help increase torque, but mainly have been found to help decrease emissions while also restricting some top-end horsepower. The delete plates remove these valves and free up some extra power towards the upper end of the RPM range.

Search for CMCV or just search for delete plates, there's plenty of info.

Would it be worth the effort to put them on a daily driver that will most likely never see the drag strip?

It depends.........

You can buy the plates for less than $100 delivered. If you can remove bolts with a rachet and socket set and have about an hour of free time, you can install them yourself. You will however, need a tune to adjust for them- if you have a tuner already (like a SCT X-2) you can buy this tune for around $50 or $75 and have it emailed to you and then just load it to your car. For a grand total of approximately $175, you can add top-end power, not lose much if any low-end, and have another mod to brag about.

That's sort of a difficult question to answer I've noticed some have mentioned they've gained both power and Torque throughout the RPM band while others have claimed they've only a noticed an increase up in the higher RPM ranges ? right now I'm only running the race and torque tunes along with the X-Cal II from bamachips so I can't really speak from personal experience ? However I can tell you that I've spoken with Brent from brenspeed.com and asked for his opinion which was this ? on a mildly modified vehicle running just a cold air intake and tune your more than likely not going to experience any noticable power gains other than in the upper RPM ranges..On the other hand ? I've also spoken with Doug from bamachips.com and asked his opinion as well and all I can tell you at this point is he does plan on running some of his own 3rd party testing as soon as he's able to find a test vehicle and find time in his schedule ? he'll then go ahead with the testing and will then post the results upon completion..Sorry that I couldn't be of more help but this is all I have to go on for right now..On the other hand ? you may be better off in asking some of the other members for thier opinion's or even ask Brent from www.brenspeed.com directly...

I added pullies and delete plates at the same time...... my previous dyno numbers were 296/316 and now are 303/318. Looking at the dyno sheets, I didn't lose any noticeable torque down low and gained just a little at the peak around 4200rpm.

They also seemed to help the throttle response alittle bit too, in my opinion.

This is my experience atleast.
