Can the dealer adjust my computer for a 275/40/18? It wont be off very much but I was just wondering if that is something the dealer can do. I am debating between spending the money on new tires/rims because my pirelli's are almost at the wear mark and have 29k on them. OR.. Getting a tuner from Doug. I think I would be more pleased come April with the new tires/rims. I dont want to spend money on the tuner and the tires/wheels all at once.

I think you'd be better of with a tuner. Down the road if you want to add any boltons you won't need t okeep bringing it back to the dealer for a ECU tweak. You could just do it at home. Might be more convenient.

If you are switching from 17" to 18" wheels the outside diameter of the 2 different wheels is about .1". This is not enough to make a difference in readjusting the speedometer/odometer via computer reprogramming. I have asked 2 different Ford dealerships and a Goodyear tire store and I got the same exact answer. I am also considering replacing stock rims and going to the new 18 Chrome ones that Ford makes. So you should be able to slap them on and be set to go.

The point here is that the 18s are not really different than the 17s in outside diameter, so no adjustment is necessary. That is why we can move up to 18s because there is no issue with space inside the wheel wheel. The profile of the sidewalls are different.

going from a 17" to an 18" is not what the prob. is, going up in tire size is, just look for a tire with the same overall diameter, then you don't need to adjust

Actually when I was at a car show a factory rep from parelli came over and was talking to me about the tires on my 05 roush. He told me these parelli tires were designed for ford for the mustang only. Did know if was was b.s.
