Is this normal?

When I shift gears, let's say from 1st to 2nd, and let up on the throttle, it seems that there is a lag in the RPMs going down towards idle, when the clutch is depressed. It's almost a slow decrease in RPM as compared to a more faster decline, like I have with my 1966 Shelby or my Honda Civic.

Was this feature designed this way?

This is normal, lots of folks have reported the same behavior. I have a manual GT and it does the same thing. They say that if you get a custom tune that your car will decelerate more like you are used to.

I was going to ask the very same question. I had a feeling it would be tunable. I hate it. It makes me feel like I'm riding the breaks all the time.

It's got to be hard on the tansmission to shift it that way! I feel like I am constantly scratching gears!

Designed to 'hang' that way for a bit.

For emissions reasons...

Just wanted to note that this is the thing I like the least about the car. I feel like I am allways riding the brakes and half the time I am driving down the road with my foot off the gas pedal. I can't wait to get it fixed. Has anyone gotten rid of it? Will a tune take care of it? Thanks

I had a custom tune done and it takes care of the "Throttle Hang" and delay.

Who did your custom tune? I'm trying to get this issue "corrected" on my current tune, too (JLT intake/DTP tune). Brent at DTP has been great in sending me tunes, but so far it has been tough to get just right via the web (too little and it isn't noticable, too much and you throw a code).

Doug at BamaChips can tune it out for you. He did mine and I love the tune. He has a couple up for grabs... a Torque tune and a Performance tune.

i wonder what causes it, is it the drive by wire not closing the throttle body fast enough?

i had mine fixed with a dyno tune. there is a 7 second delay with the stock tune before it begins deceleration. i have mine now at like 1-2 seconds, and its much better. i dont have to constantly use the brakes to slow down.
