Yes you can and you don't need spring compressors to take them out, I did it without them. I also have a 2006 GT convertible and I replaced my rear springs and shocks. It won't be easy putting in the new springs if you don't remove the brace, even with spring compressors. If you're feeling brave, compress the spring (not a lot) then using a strap or strong rope tie it around the coils and insert them onto the spring mounts. with the weight of the car on the springs you can cut the rope or straps.
