Coil Pack Install

I changed plugs and now I'm putting my coil packs back in.

So... for as hard as those beotches were to get out with the twisting while pulling, I'm supposed to believe that they go in THAT easily?

I thought there would be a snap, or a pop, or some sound telling me the boots were back in place - but nothing!

I just put the end over the plug, push it in the hole, and install the tiny bolt?

It has to be harder than that for as hard as they were to get out!

I just changed my plugs today, the COP came off and back on pretty easily. The hardest part was trying to get the back two COP's and plugs out with my Whipple in the way, wow was it a pain in the ***.

So when you re-install a COP, you just push the spring over the tip of the spark plug and lay it in place? No having to make sure the boot snaps in place?

It sure felt like they were "snapped" in place when I was removing them, but after 16,000 miles and the heat, I guess that's what happens.

Hey Tom, on mine they come off and go on with no real sensation at all..... no click, no "feel" etc.

Wonder why they were so hard to get off?

After taking the little screw out, I had to twist while pulling up on all 8 of them... then eventually they POP'd out.

I see what you mean about putting them in - they feel like they just lay in place with NO effort.

Maybe all you performance guys had them out sooner than I did and they didn't have a chance to bake themselves into place?

I took mine off when I did the valve covers. I didn't have and don't have 16K miles on it yet but there was no difficulty removing them. There was no noticable pop, snap or click putting them back on either. It doesn't seem that they are on right because how simple they re-installed but I haven't had any problems.
Not sure that helps much but it's how it happened for me.

I don't know if they were sticking to the top of the plugs... or sticking to the seat of the heads... but not one of the 8 just lifted out easily.

This is why I was questioning it. If they came out as simply as all you guys say, I wouldn't have found it strange at all.

Like you said, Brian... it doesn't seem that they are on right...

Well, I put them all back in. Basically just laid them in the hole and installed the tiny screw.

It started with no CEL telling me anything was wrong, so I guess I did it right!

It's fine. Boot can't go beyond the hold-down bolt, so it is what it is.
