clocking altenator on saleen sc install

if i read right the reason for clocking the altenator on the saleen super charger install is the hot wire tends to rub if you dont.if this is the case why not just get a longer hot wire?if this isnt the reason why do you have to do it and does it have to be done.

I thought you had to clock the alternator to release te pulley so it didn't need to be turned arund to work properly. I think the pulley is one way stock.

You don't need to clock the alternator and nowhere in the directions that I got with mine did it say to do so. It does come with a cable to extend the hot cable because the factory cable is to short in the new position.
