Clear Corner Lights Install
Looks awesome Jed, already been down this road, except the ones I ended up getting some two years ago are complete crap, so maybe you can help me out with a couple of questions.
I forgot where in hell's name I bought mine from, I think they cost somewhere around $35.00, but from the get GO I noticed an issue with one of the sockets where the bulb connector attaches to the inside of the lens...I had to lightly file away some attached plastic so the connector could actually engage.
Over time both side leaked, and you could see condensation building up inside....it got to a point that there was water sloshing inside on the passenger side, driver's side was also getting condensation.
Today I opened up passenger side, wheel off, plastic liner off and unscrewed the two nuts holding the two posts in place....water just spilled out as I removed it, I dried it up as best as I could, replaced the amber bulb that was blown and put everything together, so I'll be ok for the next little while.
Question; mine's a 2011 GTCS so the lenses are a lil different than yours, have you had any water/condensation intrusion on yours since your install?
Can you recommend a good quality clear lens for the 2011 GTCS?
Have you applied any light coating of lithium grease to the "O" ring before you installed it in the socket?
Water totally ruined the passenger side bulb socket, it's full of corrosion/rust so I will be replacing that bulb socket when I get new lenses.
Can you PLEASE post a link where you got these lenses from? I appreciate the help, It's a PITA having to remove the wheel, then liner and screws and plastic retainers just to deal with moisture/water....I want it done with QUALITY lenses that don't leak or condense and be done with it, interestingly, the ugly OEM orange ones that came with the car never leaked a single drop!
Thanks for the help Jed.
