Key fob approach lighting question

As some TMS members know, I have an '06 now replacing my totaled '07. Having the car for almost three months now, I am noticing minor differences. One I'm not clear on is the aforementioned lighting (headlights and taillights). In my '07, if I unlock the car as I walk up to it, the headlights and taillights come on for about 5-7 seconds or so.

My '06 doesn't do that. Is this a running change that was introduced in '07? Or is my '06 feature not working or not turned on?

Thanks everyone!

Did your 07 have an active alarm, and your 06 doesn't, and they flashed because of that?

Hmm, ok. I was guessing it was a change that happened in '07.

I'm not sure if my '06 has the active alarm. The lights don't flash. They just stay on for 5-7 seconds. Like courtesy lighting. Is there a way to check?

Thank you both for the replies.

I have the factory alarm system/motions sensors on my '06. When I unlock, the interior lights come on, but the headlights, etc. do not come on and stay on, or anything like that.

Ok, cool. It must be a 2007+ thing. My interior lights come on, too. But, no exterior lights. Thanks everyone for the confirmation.

I don't know when they started this function but it is not automatic. It is selectable. You have to turn it on to be able to do this. Look in your owners manual and it tells you how to activate the lights on welcome feature. I know I saw that when I first read my owners manual years ago. It said I could have it on or off. I have it on and left it that way.

Awesome! Thank you! I thought it was odd that it would be a feature that was only on 2007+. I'll totally look into it! Thank you!

I did some more research and it looks like more people are saying '05-06s did not have the feature. I tried the enable/disable procedure for it. But, it didn't work. Oh well. I guess it is just taking me time to get used to things not being exactly the same as my Whinnie (RIP).
