Will installing the Bassani off road X-pipe give you a check engine light?

You'll need mil eliminators to prevent the check engine light from coming on.

What he really needs is an SCT tuner to turn off his rear O2 sensors. You might as well take the plunge and do it man. It's worth getting a tuner by itself anyway, huge gains. Buy it from bamachips or Brenspeed and if you tell them what mods you have, they will custom make a tune for you and email it to you.

True, that is the best solution. As long as he wants to spend the money to do it. But MIL eliminators are only going to set him back $29. Decent short term solution.

But, the tuner would be best bet, true.

Yes it will turn the CEL on however it won't be on all the time. I had that problem with my Bassani's but since the computer does adjust sightly to fix the A/F ratio sometimes the light would be on and sometimes not. I had Ford run the codes and they said it was lean but not bad and I could tune it if I want to fix it. I had a dyno tune done to fix the A/F and no more light (knock on wood). They did not turn off the 02 sensors but rather just adjusted the A/F. Here is more info on it:

I have the Bassani's with hi-flos(not installed yet) and I was wondering if that would still trigger a CEL. I'm aware that a custom tune would get the most out of the car, but would it run fine and still benefit the car performance wise if I just installed it now?

Well, I spok with NYYankee about it,a nd can find no info regarding MIL's for S197's ... So.

You'd be better off either way with a tune after switching exhuast out, but unless you really mess with the a/f ratio, you probably won't be badd off, just won't see as much improvment as you would otherwise.
