in the used oil. My first oil change at 500 miles on my sportbike had all sorts of left over casting pieces in it (which I'm told is normal) but there was nothing at all in my GT's used oil yesterday.........

I went with the Mobil 1 0w-20w and am assuming it will be ok to go with a full synth at 1K miles - since it came from Ford running synth blend anyway.....I couldn't even find a synth blend in the right weight - so really had no choice.

I had mine changed at 1K by the dealer. I pulled the dipstick the day before I took it in and the oil looked brand new. Several people have reported that their oil looked really clean and new on the first change only to be rebutted by others who claim that it is impossible. I believe it though, this engine dosen't seem to produce much trash when breaking in. My first change on my Kawi Vulcan looked like metallic gray paint coming out.

I think that replacing the oil before the first 3000 miles is unnecessary (for the 05 Mustangs).

I plan on going to Mobil 1 at about 2-3k. Did not realize Ford went with a blend for the 05, thats news to me.

Kind of confusing as the OM states on two different places what oil to use pg 222 and 224 IIRC and on one they state "Premium Ford Oil...." whereas on the other page they state "Preimum...Synth Blend"......

Yea, that seems a little confusing. Wonder if someone can clarify, what does Ford put in the 05, regular oil or a blend?

Yes goose I did get the offer - but based on terrible service from this dealer on past vehicles - they will never get their hands on my new GT. I wouldn't have purchsed the Mustang there either - but they just happened to have exactly what I wanted (due to a cancelled order that had just arrived) and I was able to pick up the GT that same day. My next closest dealer is about 15 - 20 miles away and not very convenient so I just changed it myself - rather do my own wrenching anyway!

I changed mine the other day at just over 1K and also noticed that the oil looked new and had no appearance of being used.
