I will occasionally get CEL with the JLT CAI.
It doesn't happen frequently. Like one every 2 weeks or so. When it happens I check to make sure things are secure and then reflash with my SCT XCalibrator1.
I've tried everything to make it go away for good but it always comes back
When it does happen it always on WOT.
I checked, rechecked, and re-re-checked all clamps and screws and everything is snug and tight - nothing is loose. I've used Loctite on the MAF screws so those are staying put. I've use silicone sealant around the MAF so it's not leaking for sure.
What could be causing the CEL?
I can't pull the codes to find out since I have an XCalibrator1 (not the new one).
One thing that might be an issue is that I'm using the 93 Octane tune in CA where I use 91 octane fuel. Could that cause a CEL? I changed the global engine timing (-1) in the XtremeTune software and we'lll see if that fixes it for good.
Only time will tell.
Do you folks have any ideas why I'm getting CELs (infrequently)?

Some possibilities:
because of 93 octane tune with 91 fuel, maybe your timing is too far advanced at WOT. or maybe you are getting a lean condition. I know for sure that a lean condition will cause a CEL.
Solution. use the 87 ocatne tune from DTP. If you get no CEL then use 93 with following changes.
use the 93 octane tune from DTP and take 2 degrees of timing out and add +2 fuel at WOT.
hope i helped

I'll give that a try. Thanks a lot.
I wish Jay could provide a 91 octane tune file as well as 87 and 93.
I've never found 93 octane fuel in L.A. :bang:

Email returned.
I'm sure it's the fact your running 91 fuel with a 93 tune. I ask all customers what fuel they run, so I can only assume 93 was requested or there was a mix up in translation.
Any way, as I said in the email. Brent@DTPRacing.com is who you need to contact, he will get you the tune file, but you will need to purchace the SCT cable to get it from your PC to your SCT.
As someone said, you should run the 87 tune with 87 fuel to be safe. Never run a lower octane fuel then the tune calls for.
Thanks
Jay
