According to the tuner he could've gotten more but he wanted to play it 'safe' which is fine since I have a stock bottom end and clutch

BTW this is Bill from CJ's I was pleasantly surprised when Torrence's car made 470 plus. When I saw yours go over 490 I was flat out floored. These Whipples are the real deal on these cars.

I have the Whipple, too.

Those are "SAFE" numbers? Man, I'd be a little nervous at that power level, however impressive. I guess I played it "REALLY SAFE" with my tune. I have the more aggressive tune right now, putting down 450+. Adam at ST said he could get plenty more, but being that this is my DD, I wanted to err on the side of caution.

AM I being too conservative? Guys, feedback please.

Anyhow, that's KICK-A$$, man. Enjoy it! I know I do!

IMO yes you are being to conservative. I have an AUTO and I was told I could have gone over 470rwhp and that was leaning on it a little at 10psi so we played it safe and I am at 458 at the wheels.

So if John is at 490+ with a manual, you should be good for more ponies...

We tryed pulling timing out of Johns car but it still made good power. I would have to check the file but I believe there is only 15-16 degrees of timing in the tune. The air fuel is dead straight and everything is good. The only way to make it make a lot less power would be to pull a lot of timing out of it and that would make the car feel a lot flatter when you get on it. I told John to shift around 5500-6000 unless he really needs all 493 ponies at the tires.

Torrance your car DID go over 470 rwhp (I believe is was 477) but that took a little more timing than I would like to see on an automatic car. Dave reigned it in a bit to a safe zone right where Johns car is.

450rwhp is very conservative for these superchargers. Unless you beat the snot out of the car every day then I would get a little more aggressive with it. I know 450 is considered the safe zone for these cars but as long as you are not beating it constantly you can go a little higher.

I have a 96 Cobra that makes 544 to the tires with stock internals and has made that power for years. The car has over 45,000 miles on it now and hundreds of 1/4 passes and it is still going strong. I attribute that to the tune on the car being spot on.

Yes they use the hypereutetic pistons better known as hyperpathetic. The pistons and rods have always been the weak spot in the modulars since they came out. Only the Shelby GT500s and the Terminators have the better Mahle/Manley parts.
