I did talk to a guy at Piedmont Modular Performance, and he had told me they had a similar issue with a car and it was the, if I recall correctly, cam phase position sensor.

If anything else, I could get it towed to the local dealership down there, but I am afraid to think what they would tell me since I have lt headers and an intake, and a tune
I was going to guess the crank position sensor. The only thing thats weird about this is it doesn't explain the blue smoke. Could be two separate problems.

Okay so check this out. There is another guy I have known for about a year that has his car, a 05 Mustang, up at my buddys shop getting some paint done. When they started his car the other day to pull into the shop, his started doing the same thing mine was doing before it quit running.

So! Evidently I am not alone on this rough running thing, though at least his is running last I heard.

Anyone know off hand how much that crank sensor is and how hard it is to replace?

I haven't had any blue smoke. Just a lot of smoke when it was running rough.

Me and the other guy both have tunes by Doug in our cars. And it has been cold here lately. But I did see a TSB on rough running/idling in the warranty and service thread, so maybe thats where my problem is coming from.

Well it is running perfect

They got my car to a local mechanic to get it checked out yesterday, and today he solved the problem.

He cleaned the spark plugs.

Apparantly, if these cars sit for awhile, the plugs get dirty. I don't drive mine everyday, and sometimes it sits for days. During that time I will move it so I can wash it, then park it again. Evidently that is worse for the plugs than I thought. The last time it was at my buddys body shop, the plugs got fouled from starting and driving 5 feet and stopping.

So my lesson learned is whenever I start my car, let it idle for a few minutes if it has been sitting for awhile.

+1. My car was in the body shop for several weeks for a new hood, stripes and other stuff. The shop only started it to move from one part of the shop to another several times. At some point the car would crank but not start so afterwards I had it towed to my mechanic. Same problem as Mydnyghte - fouled plugs. $330 later. With forced induction I guess I'd better consider installing an air/water separator to reduce blow-by.
