Car dynoed on Tuesday( 518.77 RWHP )

Hi everyone,

My car was running lean,So I took it to Higgings Ford Performance in Douglasville,Ga to have it straighten out. After about 5 hrs of tweeking, Ray T Schakest @ Higgings done his magic with the dyno fine tuning car put down 518.77 RWHP & 442.55 ft lbs Torque @ 10 lbs of Boost! To say the least I was very pleased..

I want to thank Ray,Tommy and all the fine people at Higgings.

Yea I know ,But I'm preety sure ray backed it down to where it is at a safe zone. air/fuel mixture is perfect at 12 to 1. He told me it was at a safe tune to have fun,So I don't think Ray would do anything to cause me to blow the engine. Forged bottom end is my next mods for the winter. I can tell a big differance in driving the car, this tune is awesome. Ray ( tuner )and Tommy ( owner of Higgings ) was very surprised that the cams vct didn't need locked out,but Ray said the cams srart there pulling towards the top end range & and still wanted to keep pulling even though he let off at 6500.He was very impressed with the Stage 4 Comp Cams.
He also told me my car is loud, but a mean loud!

Not to **** in your cheerios

Not to **** in your cheerios, but it isn't Ray's car, and it isn't his problem if it grenades.

You are the owner, and the driver, you must be sure that you are not exceeding the physical limits of your own engines internal parts. Being pretty sure Ray has you in a “safe zone” with those numbers, sounds like a recipe for disaster to me.

518.77 RWHP @ 6500 RPM is pushing it for a stock 4.6 bottom end. So like tom281 said, Be careful on how hard you drive it........

Agreed. When the consensus is that 450-475rwhp is the limit for stock internals I personally wouldn't have even dyno'd it let alone built it to make that much power till I had forged internals inside. But that's me.

At those power levels you could blow a rod at any time, regardless of the tune or it could last a long time, like everyone says be careful and 11.5 is much safer than 12.0.

Great numbers...I think I can see how those cams are helping out in the top end with those HP #'s.

There is no way I would run 520rwhp on a stock block unless I drove it like a granny... I can't believe he said that was safe...You could still have problems in the 400-450rwhp level on a stock block but 520, even where i'm at my tuner told me not to go to crazy, although I drive it like I stole it pretty much everyday... Sweet numbers though, just be careful...

Thanks everyone for the info, I'll get with Tommy Higgings on Monday and ask him to look at the tune to make sure it is safe. I think Ray backed it down after the last little tweek, I'll make sure it was de-tuned to around no more than 450. I don't drive it every day and I don't run the hell out of it when I do! I play every once in a while, but not past 5,500-6,000 rpm.
And thanks for the concern,Forged bottom end is the next mods to be safe.

Far as the #s ,I wasn't expecting the car to do that! the dyno fine Bamachips tune before Higgings ,the car made 478 RWHP & 420 ft lbs Torque ,But the car was runnig lean ,So I let Ray tweek it, Cams are deffinately doing their job..

Hi James...... just wanted to jump in here again and make sure you know that none of us are trying to give you a hard time- we're just concerned about your engine because you've got a beautiful car and we'd hate to see something happen to it. Not trying to criticize your tuner either- it's just a proven fact that at that power level, you're way exceeding the physical limits and it may- OR MAY NOT- last very long.

I would definitely say that a majority of it is all in the tune. If you have an amazing tuner, then you should be fine to an extent. Then their is just how much those "tooth pick" rods will hold. I know someone on Corral.net has a KB GT running around your hp for over 6 months now. And I know he gets on his car a decent amount, but also know he doesn't rag the car out.

Great numbers none the less.

Do you have anymore pictures of the car? Looks great!

I understand everyones concern and really do appreciate the info. I will be getting with Higgings on Monday and make sure it was backed down ,so as not to throw a rod. Bottom end is on my next agenda for sure.
Here's a few more pics, but the pics from Daytona didn't turn out that great.I'll be taking more pics soon.
