Can't install new tune on SCT XCal2 tuner

Hello. I tried to install a new all-out tune (.cef file) that I received from Tillman a few days ago. So I grabbed my SCT Xcal2 this morning to upload the tune in it. I initially bought the device from Brenspeed back in 2007 and it was pre-loaded with 3 Brenspeed tunes.

After plugging the Xcal2 into my laptop's USB port today, I simply cannot get the computer to install the device's drivers although it does detect the device. I tried to install the drivers manually through the LiveWire file on the installation CD and I tried to do it via automatic Windows process. Nothing works.

Bottomline is I can't get the tuner to communicate with my computer and I am left with a brand new tune that I cannot load into my car. What a bummer Has anyone encountered such problem?

Install the SCT Device Updater software first with the device not connected to the computer. Launch the software first, then plug up the SCT programmer. That's the only way mine works. You may have to accept that the driver is not from a signed software provider, but that's just a warning message that pops up. I hope this helps.

Thank you for your input. I am going to explain how I finally solved the issue if that may help guys like me who have owned an Xcal2 since 2006-7 but have not tried to upload a new tune into it since.

To sum up, you have to update both the Xcal2 driver as well as the LiveLoad software. Tillman sent me a .cef file that will not be usable in the older version of LiveLoad that would only accept .ll3 files. Here is what you should do:

(1) Install LiveLink on your computer from the CD with v1.3. The program file includes the Xcal2 driver.
(2) Download and install LiveLoad v2.2.12.1 (the software used to upload new tunes into your XCal2) from the following link: http://www.sctflash.com/showdeviceup...NID=9400&DTYPE=
(3) Download and install the new Windows Device Drivers from the link above as well.
(4) Plug the XCal2 into your USB port and install the drivers MANUALLY.
(5) Launch LiveLoad and do what you have to do with the new tune.

You should be done. At least this is how it worked out for me.
