![Question](https://themustangsource.com/forums/images/icons/icon5.gif)
Hi,
I am going to be starting my install of the Detroit Rocker Cams. I have all the tools, but just have one question about the timing chain wedge. When putting it in on each side, which way does it go it to wedge it properly? one side is curve slightly. Does the curved side go top or bottom? I cannot really tell from all the install guides. With the pictures they show is that the curved section alway point to the outer edge if the engine?
Thanks,
Sean

Did you buy the tool from Ford or after market? The Ford tool has indentations to help grip the chain. I would suggest trying it both ways & see which way goes the deepest & use that side. Be sure to push it hard enough to get a good set.

follow this link and scroll down to #17, it's a video of a cam installation on a 5.4L (same as 4.6l) should answer your question.

That's a great video! Wish I had seen that before I helped my buddy do his cams. But yeah, follow that procedure, and you'll be good. Have fun with the #8 exhaust follower. It's a little tough to get at. We ended up rotating the crankshaft just a bit to do that one. And we didn't completely remove the phaser. One guy held it in place on the chain while the other swapped camshafts.

Just finished the cam instal late last night. That #8 follower is a huge pain to get it. Kind of scraped the back of my thumb on the sharp edges of the cam trying to get that da!n thing in. My back and knees were killing me bending over and trying to get it in.
Just have to get the valve covers back on, install the tune and hope everything is good!
