CAI and Tune Question
CAI and Tune Question
Good Morning guys, i have been visiting the site hear for quite a while, but this is my first post. I have an 06 GT with FRPP GTA, but is other wise stock. Anyway, i was gong to work and a guy in a BMW 335 was jacking with me, so we went and i was surprised at how fast his car was. I really didnt think he was going to be able to hang with me, but he did the whole way untill we hit traffic. This made me realize it was time to consider the CAI and Tune, so here is my question. I know from reading the posts that alot of you like Brenspeed and his tunes, so that is a definate possibility for me. But if i got a CAI and then went to a local shop and got a dyno tune, is that the same or are we talking about two different types of things. BTW, i live in the DFW area. Thanks for any info..
Just about everyone on here has had great results with the tunes from Brenspeed Bamachips etc... The dyno tune MAY be a little costly just for dropping in a CAI. I would recommend buying from Bama or Brenspeed and waiting for more power adding mods to get a dynotune.
There are plenty of members in the DFW area. You should try to arrange a meet with some of them. That way you can see what they have done and precisely what changes have occurred from which hardware and software.
Canned tunes and CAI will most likely differ in spark and fuel curves. I'm no tuner, but I had a canned tune and CAI and I took it to a tuner. He told me I was running a "safe" tune and he could only get about 6Hp more out of it on the "ragged edge". I elected to leave the "safe" tune.
I'm sure Brenspeed can take care of you. The thing you want to look for is a local shop you trust. As you begin to modify your vehicle, e-mail and phone calls don't seem to satisfy as your Mustang sits awaiting some essential tweaks. If you find a local shop you trust, they may use SCT, DiabloSport, Sniper, or some other tuning software. You will want to begin that relationship now and invest in the technology they support. In the future you won't have to buy a different hand-held tuner and you will be in "the system" with the tuner such that you won't feel uncomfortable having them tune what may be a difficult combination of mods. Usually they sell the parts with the tuning capability. Most shops HATE when someone brings a part from eBay or another shop and then try to nickel and dime a tune.
