CAI and tune - car now quieter at idle?

I installed by CAI and tune today and was surprised that the car was noticably quieter at idle. I have the Ford Racing Borla stingers and was quite surprised at this.

Can anyone explain this to me?

I have stock exhaust and didn't notice any change after adding a CAI and tune.

I'd say it's a combination of things... the Stingers are wearing in, the tune is now providing the correct A/F ratio, and you're just getting used to the sound of your exhaust.

More importantly, how's it drive?

Tacobill, by the way thanks for the picture thread of the computer tune you did in another thread. Helped me out to follow along as I flashed mine for the first time.

Did Doug have to do a special tune for the 07? I think there is a difference between the 05-06 ecu and the 07 ecu. How does it drive? I have an 07 and will be in the market for a CAI+tune.

I'm sure the 07 ECU is the same one. CAN network will start to be used on ALL 2008 vehicles. I'm sure this will be a little diffrent to program or alter certain stuff. Here is a link http://www.aa1car.com/library/can_systems.htm.
(OBD1) is the First Generation of ON BOARD DIAGNOTICS and (OBD2) is the SECOND GENERATION. This is basically the third generation. Can is basically the same as OBD2 but I doubt that the SCT X 2 will work on 2008 vehicles, but who knows for sure. Maybe it will work since other vehicles already use CAN. Just my .02

Not sure about the tune difference for a 07, but it went in with no problem and drives very nicely.

Possibly the idle speed is a bit slower which would make the engine sound less "busy".

I'm pretty sure I heard the new computer rumor for the 07 WAS true.

just let Doug do it for you and don't get involved with whether the compouter is different or not. The end product to you is the sme. That is all that matters.

sorry to bring back this thread...

i just installed the jlt cai and bamachip tune. i started my engine expecting to hear my usual frpp/stinger rumble at idle. it was SOOOO quiet... too quiet. relatively speaking. i just drove it yesterday and there is a definite drop in the volume of my exhaust. kind of a bummer, but the performance jump from what i had more than makes up for the loss in sound. simply incredible!!!

My Flowmasters got quieter as well with the 93 race, however, seemed louder with the 87 performance

We have the same mufflers. I notice a difference between stock and the tunes from Lidio and Doug. I have been searching for the correct word to use. You almost have to know the sound from previous hot rods. Maybe the word is authority. Mine are not quiet for sure but it was easier to hold a conversation at 70 MPH with these tunes. I know someone else will pick this up and run with it.
