CAI on my '07 vert?

Maybe an old question for most on this board, but......

My neighbor said I could put the CAI Filter (he mentioned K&N) on my car to increase the hp without having to do a tune on the car.. Is this true? I here all of the members talking about the enhanced performance with a CAI & tune, but for me, I just don't want to mess around with what Ford has done or potentially mess up the car. Any suggestions?

Tom

a drop in air filter or CAI cone filter, very very minimal!

he probably means the K&N CAI, which is a direct bolt on to your stock intake box which will give you a good 15HP increase without a tune

as for a CAI/Tune combo, you wont mess up your car unless you go with a good vendor who knows how to tune your car. (TillmanSpeed, Brenspeed, Bamachips, etc.) You will squeeze a total of 30HP with a tune and a bigger CAI like the C&L intake or the JLT intake.

Thumbs up

I was also nervous about messing with the tune in the car. But I have to say I just installed a C&L intake & a 93 tune from brenspeed. It's like a totally different vehicle. I fell in love with driving the car all over again. It's well worth the money spent. If I were you I would read about the Big Three (Tillman, Brenspeed and Bamachips) learn as much as you can and then go for it. The change you will feel is unbelievable, just doing a filter/CAI change with out a tune won't do much and it could cause a dangerous lean condition at WOT. Good luck with the decision.

We would be glad to help you out with this. There are a few air intakes which advertise that they can be bolted on and driven with safe and efficient air fuel levels. However, the real increase in performance comes from finding the correct intake and tune combination, and recalibrating for optimized octane. Also the throttle values, and driveability that is gained makes it worth the extra funds. It really does feel like a new vehicle when it's installed and tuned! Give us a shout, and we can put together a package for you with either a C&L, JLT, or Steeda air intake and custom tune package. Good luck either way!
