WHAT? HOW DID THAT HAPPEN??

Geez man, I'm so sorry to hear that... guess you won't be at the dyno day now either.

I know that Brenspeed just rebuilt (beefed up) the engine in one of their shop cars- its built and they're putting some stuff on that I can't talk about but they plan to run 9s with it. You may want to give them a call and see who did the machine work, etc.

Good luck with the rebuild though, I suggest a full forged set of internals, and a nice solid reinforced block meant for heavy duty horsepower

What Oil Did You Use?

Losing lubrication to the top end of the motor does not have anything to do with a power adder like a supercharger, turbo and or nitrous. Did you use anything besides 5w20 oil in your engine? If you use the wrong weight of oil it can cause the oil not to reach the valve train and cams in your engine which will ruin the top end. The only other thing that could have happend is that you got some blockage in the passages leading to the top of the engine. Did you miss some oil changes, use a cheap oil filter? Let us know so that the rest of us don't mee with the same fate. You also have to be careful if you take your car to a place like Jiffy lube because they will put the generic 10w30 oil in your car which is the wrong weight oil and screw you in the end.

I don't even bother to answer if you're not providing more information of what caused it-. As someone said to you on another forum, don't talk in riddles man. Thanks.

So, according to your first post the cams are scratched...so get some new ones. If that is all that is wrong, thats easy enough. Look into some aftermarket ones, Bamachips has started selling some and they look pretty attractive IMO.

Thanks for all the help. I am trying to get to the bottom of the problem.
So far just the vavle covers have come off there is at least one bent push rod maybe more. I will be pulling the motor in the next few days. As I get info I will inform you all.

We / I think that the motor is oil starved from the bottom up.
Meaning a blockage from a broken part of oil pump failure.

YES< I used only top notch oil.
NO< nitrous is not an issue. It was last used last spring.

If you found a pushrod in that particular engine I'd be impressed

Just as I told the person on the other site I will tell you,

This happened on Monday, I gave all the info I had at the time..
If I knew more I would have added more...
The Issue HERE is not how or why it happened ..just that it did happen.
I am sure you all as well I, want to know how/ why!
As soon as I Can figure out I will post that info.
Hopefully this will help others avoid what happened to me.
In the mean time my Question is about rebuilding a motor.
I ask this of anybody that has rebuilt their motor before.
Somebody that has info about exact parts, part numbers and any specific info about building a stronger S197 motor.
Opinions about oiling systems, factory or not?
What crank and why?
What pistons, rods and rings... and why?

If anyone has this type of info Great! I am willing to listen...

If not... well... you the Riddler, the Joker Batman, Robin and the Commisoner can kindly keep your opinions on the shelf.

Thanks to anyone that has offered sincere thoughts and REAL help

INTRUDER.... Unless you have all the special tools that its takes to rebuild one of these Mod motors or have a friend that does, you will probably be better off to buy an upgraded ( Forged internals) short block from an engine builder like DSS. There are a number of top notch builders around. Also, you can ship them your short block and get a forged upgrade for about $1000 less than buying a built short block. Providing you don't find head damage once you get the heads off.

These mod motors require special tools, especially in the cam and valve installation areas and they aren't cheap to purchase, don't know about renting them or if you even can.

I use to rebuild my own motors years ago, but, that became almost impossible with the mod motors.

Just my thoughts on your situation... Good hunting...

Bobby M.

I would like to see that one also. He needs to do a little bit of research on these engines.

Hey Intruder,
I would like to ask you a question before everybody on this forum gives you countless opinions of the motor "THEY" would like you to build. What are your needs for this car in the future???Daily Driver???Weekend Warrior??? PURE RACE CAR??? What would like the RWHP of this new engine to be???? You need to answer some of these basic questions before the guys on this forum should give any opinions at all. Just my $.02.
