You asked for it so I am happy to share testing on the new C&L air RACER system.
Two weeks ago C&L supplied us with the new “RACER” system that features a plastic inlet pipe and billet 95mm mass air. We are the first company to put the new C&L to the test and I don’t believe anybody else even had there hands on one of these yet. For reference the current silver C&L system has a billet 83mm mass air and cast inlet pipe. This new racer system has a 95mm mass air and plastic inlet pipe.
The Racer system was developed with two things in mind. First C&L wanted to produce a system for the consumer that had a black plastic inlet pipe. We all know there are many kits on the market that currently use a plastic pipe and this is what some customers want. Secondly this system will support serious horsepower. If heads, cams, or a blower is in your future this RACER system would be a good option. For those of you who have stock Mustang GT with basic power mods like exhaust, pulleys, and throttle body’s looking for the most power the current silver 83mm system will be the hot ticket.
I also included the results of the current 83mm system at a very rich 12.0 A/F to show that even very rich it still made more power than the new racer system. Remember “Racer” does not mean more power over the old system, it means the ability to support the needs of a serious engine.
RESULTS
C&L 83mm
rwhp 306@6100 13.09 A/F torque 320@4400 12.75 AF
C&L 83mm
rwhp 304@6200 12.02 A/F torque 318@4300 12.00 AF
C&L 95mm (racer)
rwhp 302@6100 12.78 A/F torque 318@4400 12.58 AF
As expected by us and C&L the racer system was close to the current silver 83mm C&L air intake but made slightly less power. Seat of the pants was great and it still made excellent power on a stock mustang.
The racer system will sell for an estimated $575 with the X-calibrator 2 & intake system on brenspeed.com. It will be just like our current C&L system with the cast inlet pipe but feature a plastic inlet pipe and larger 95mm cast mass air housing. I expect them in as early as November 5th or as late is mid November.
What did we learn? C&L has developed a plastic inlet pipe system that did not sacrifice quality. We also learned as the old saying goes “bigger is not always better” and that held true in this test. On a stock mustang with your basic mods the current 83mm C&L will make the most power.

C&L just finished up this intake so for those of you who were asking we expect them here next week. I will try to have pricing up on the site for you Friday or Monday.

what were the overall gains over stock? These gains seem awsome from the kit
to me plastic is the only way to fly...the look of metal is always awsome...but the heat issue is huge.

As far as heat being a huge issue that could be debated for years.

Nice work again Brent... It is great to see a vendor taking a personal interest in developing stuff for people practically "on request"...
