So in the next few days I am taking a pretty long car trip in my Stang... I have a good many miles on my Stang with stock tires and stock brakes so I took it into the shop to see about possibly needing brakes... to my amazement the mechanic says my front brakes are still like new as are the rear... 33,000 miles and still like new? What kind of milage are you guys seeing from your stock brake pads?

 

i got around 8k and some heavy braking now and then and every morning i stick my finger between the caliper and brake disc to feel the distance between the metal of the pad and the disc and it for some reason feels like the first day i bought it

 

42k on mine, and they're still doing a decent job. I'm glad they're not like GM brakes. When I had a 95 Monte Carlo, every 25k I was doing brakes on that darned P.O.S !!

 

I'm almost finished replacing my rotors with RotorPro's drilled and slotted rotors and a set of new premium pads. My car has about 17 k on it and the old pads were only wore down 1/16th inch tops. Still looked like they had 1/2 inch left on them. I's say they were wearing good.

I am defiantly amazed at the rate in which they wear... The first 20,000 or so was spent driving back and forth from college so it received alot of highway miles... the last 13000 or so have been city driving

 

The earlier build years of the Ford Focus were just as bad, pads were only lasting about 18-20k or so. I was changing brakes like crazy on those cars when I still worked at a Ford dealer here.

 

Mine feel just like they did the first week I bought it as well. A LOT better than my 99 cougar, I ended up replacing those every 20k until I finally put some kevlar pads on there.

These stock brakes on the GT are also not as dusty as my old Cougar either, it takes about 2 weeks for brake dust to become obviously apparent.

 

33k here also... brakes still have plenty of meat on them!

Going to Las Vegas this weekend... ROAD TRIP!!! Brake check was on my list as well.
