brake upgrades that fit GT/CS rims
brake upgrades that fit GT/CS rims
So, in the very near future I will be sending the car to Roush, and having a supercharger installed with a suspension pacage. Now I know that with more power I'm going to want to me able to stop. Does anyone out there know what brake upgrade packages fit with the 18 inch California Special Wheels? I know that if I was to buy the Roush brakes I would have to get the Roush wheels and tires. Thanks
Are you really in love with the Roushcharger??? The Saleen Supercharger looks cleaner and performs better and is more upgradeable. It is very easy to install. I did mine all by myself in a weekend. Power is unbelieveable. Just my opininon and presenting options.
ps it's also cheaper

what's wrong with getting some small spacers?

Turns out I only needed 1/2" spacer up front to make the GT500 brembos clear under my 18" fanblades. I assume that the 18" bullits would be the same. No spacers would be needed for the GT500 wheels obviously.

I ordered them through Steeda.ca, here in Toronto but you can get them from any H&R supplier.
You don't necessarily need that brand, there are others that people have used on TMS with success as well...I'll try to do a search for some alternates.

Spacer Questions
Just this week I placed an order for a GT/CS Vert -- loaded up with no GTAP and Spoler delete, 3.55 etc. My immediate upgrade list included the 14" GT500 brakes, the FRHP and the Short Throw Hurst Shifter. In looking at this forum (and others) it seems that you need a 1" spacer w/ the stock 18's to use the 14" brakes. Although the difference in the setback between the SVT Cobra wheels and the CS stock 18s is only .3". I'd like the 4 piston calipers -- and more braking -- I have an '01 -- and never have been happy with the brakes -- but really would prefer to keep the stock wheels and up the tires to 255/45/18s for a wider contact patch. Obviously the rear pads and lines are a plus on the GT500 kit. Anyone have any experience with any other kits that give you the 4 piston calipers w/o spacers or wheel change? Or can anyone fill me in on the real impact of the spacers -- the good ones aren't cheap -- but they clearly affect the suspension dynamics of the car. Thanks.
I checked all kinds of brake manufacturers to upgrade the brakes on my CS, only AFTER I had upgraded the wheels to chromed stock rims... Only thing that I found to fit my chromed factory 18's were Slotted Power rotors with upgraded pads on the original brakes. I didn't want to use spacers under any circumstances. I feel an improvement with that set up, and since I don't plan on racing, I think it'll work just fine.
Which brake pads did you go with? On the new Bullitt, it mentions an upgrade to "Performance Friction Carbon Metallic® front brake pads". I am assuming that the calipers are probably the same as the CS and maybe the Bullitt pads might be an option.
That kinda sounds right, but I don't know for sure. You know, I'll have to check tomorrow... I bought them through Downtown Ford in Sacramento, and they installed them also. I'm heading down to Sac tomorrow, and I'll look on the boxes, as they're in my garage. I'll take all the info off the boxes, and post it here for ya...
I'm still dithering on the brake upgrade issue here. I've sort of concluded that I'm going to try to get the goodridge lines and GT500 rear pads -- then see if I can get some Bullit front pads as a comprimise to the 4 piston brembo calipers and the GT500 Rotors up front. Does anyone have access to the individual part numbers in the Ford Racing GT500 Brake Kit? I'm thinking that the way to go is to try and get those parts there -- and work on the front pads / possibly rotors separately. What do you think?
Well, the boxes are gone. Probably something along the lines of 'Why am I keeping these stock brake pads? I don't have room in my crowded garage to store these!' But...
I do have the receipt, and I can list the part #'s off of it...
OSP*FRTPADS*PO195200CS List: $152.48
OSP*RRPADS*PO195200CS List: $190.10
These are Ford products, so you're local dealer should be able to get them.
