Bought Used Saleen UD pulleys!!

Well I bit the bullet and bought some saleen underdrive pulleys. I got a great deal on a slightly used/demo set with some nicks. I got them for 79 dollars shipped off ebay. I think that is a great deal after looking at pricing around. If anyone has any tips on install please chime in. Will I need to use the same belt, or will I have to install different size belt etc? Just looking for any info on installation. Thanks

I almost bought a set of these months ago- used for like $150. But no one could tell me any info about them- torque specs, installation notes, if the stock belt works, etc. so I passed on the deal and bought Steeda pullies for $220. I even emailed Saleen, and they were reluctant to give me info since the parts were used, and I didn't purchase from them.

Good luck!

Use the search function, theres gotta be a thread on the install.

I got the Steeda ones for 100 unused from a forum member. I wasnt in the market for them, but I would have been an idiot to pass them up at the same time.

Did your pulleys come with any bolts? My Steeda set came with a new alternator bracket bolt (to prevent interference with the belt) and a 60mm (long) crank pulley installation bolt. The latter is just to start the pulley onto the crankshaft. Once it's on you switch back to the shorter factory bolt. I re-used the factory serpentine belt. Let me know if you need any more info.

I bought a used set of Saleen SS UDP's from MM in High Ridge for a $100 and they installed them for a $100. You can use the same belt.

Do you need to retune with ud pullies. I have heard that you need an new water pump with them is that true.

No tune needed. There has been no reduction in cooling, A/C or alternator performance.

No tune needed and you don't need a new water pump. However, a bunch of us have done the underdrive pullies and the Meziere electric waterpump at the same time to get a few more ponies out of it. I have run this combo for over a year with no issues at all.

That's what I wish I would've done- the pullies and elec H2O pump- it would be very beneficial at the track.

I want both the UDP's and the water pump for my car as well. Are the useful for strictly street driving?

Jon,
My car has only seen the track 1 time in the 1 1/2 years I have had it. Mine is a daily driver. I have used the UD pullies and electric EO2 pump for a year with no issues. Gets you some extra ponies and revs quicker.

Well I just recieved my kit. Dude actually sent two of the red water pump pulleys, one is brand new and one has a few minor scratches in it. They look pretty good actually. I will try and put them on soon. Will post pics soon as installed.

Well i have changed my mind. I think I have the turbo supercharger state of mind now, so I wont be installing them, sold them on ebay. Thanks for all the great hints, but I have been looking into installing the big boost, which hopefully will happen in summer of 07, so I have decided against installing and removing them again.
