Borla vs FRPP

I got word today that the borla's I have on order are going to be delayed for another 4 weeks (8 weeks total). I've been debating on whether I should cancel the order and just get the ford racing ones. I know the ford ones are made by borla, but are they the exact same muffler (ie. construction of insides and exterior shell, exhaust note, and estimated "hp gain"?).

I just recently installed the FRPP's and I must say, I wish I bought these in the first place instead of wasting my money on all the other axlebacks that sounded to me, like pooh. I hear that the Borla's have the same sound if not a little better, but go for the FRPP's, they're cheaper and sound great.

Both are exactly the same. They are both made by borla, only difference is one stamped borla, the other frpp. good luck, but I bought the cheaper which is frpp.

I've heard both sides....

That they are exactly the same other than logo....
...
and that guys installing both say that the borla's sound a bit different...

....

Don't forget the Steeda's are the same style too, but apparently they sound a bit different too.

Stinger model is the same, just the canister and tip emblems are different.

FYI- I got mine from Downs Ford for $369 plus shipping. M-5230-5GT are the ones you want.

definitely the same, just different logo. Both are made by borla, one for them, and one for ford to sell as theres. You will like them I guarantee it. Best sounding axlebacks out there. I had the bassani and xpipe combo, love these much better. good luck

Yes they are the same except for the above mentioned. One difference is the price. FRPP is the exact same except its price is cheaper. I got mine for a 100 less on ebay.

I think the back orders are due to Shelby buying all that was in stock for the Shelby GTs

also since the price of steel has gone up the FRPPs went from $360+ to $550+ a set, i am thinking it could also be due to Shelby, i on the other hand went Coffin because i like that loud sound

When I had purchased my FRPP I had actually called the ford racing parts dept. and asked one of the techs what the difference between theirs and the Borlas was. He said they are made by Borla to their specifications. When I asked if they were different then the normal Borla specs, he said "not really". So I went with the FRPP since they are much cheaper.

I actually emailed borla a few months ago and they said that it is the same muffler other than any stamping or packagind differences. They even said some FRPP mufflers are sold in Borla packaging

Where are you buying FRPP's at $550. You can get them off ebay for $405 shipped or Lethal Performance has them for a little more with free shipping. I haven't heard of anyone being out of stock, there are plenty of people with a full supply of FRPP's in-stock

I love mine, I had Bassani's but wasn't pleased. These FRPP stingers are definately the best all around sounding exhaust IMHO.

how much louder are they over stock? I want a nice sound, a little bit louder than stock, but nothing obnoxious or annoying. any opinions? It seems that these Stingers are everybody's favorite.

They are quite a bit louder than stock. At idle you can def. notice a difference then when you put the pedal to the floor the Stingers just roar to life!

Only obnoxious thing is the slight drone but I actually like it, although a lot of people hate it.

Not mine... I had them and sold them. The drone was insane; but some people don't mine . To answer the threads question... They're the same. I would advise that you ride with someone who has them first. If that's not possible, buy them, and if you don't like them, they're pretty easy to sell... just a PIA with removing, re-installing, shipping, etc.

I agree with every word of STS. I ran the Borla's for a year/ sold them/ went with a offroad Prochamber and the GTA's and could not be happy. Steel is right... go find someone with these mufflers and take a ride. Learn from others mistakes. Please don't get me wrong... the Borla/FFRP's are awesome sounding but they drone like a bi&%h.
Scott
