I just got the borla and I love it. The sound clip on the net is pretty accurate. There is a lot of interior drone around 2000 rpm in 5th gear. Very easy installation. I highly reccomend it.

You'll know it when you hear it! Can be quite annoying after a while. I experienced it in another GT with MagaPacks on it...for me, the drone developed a loud piercing sound which felt like it was drilling into the center of my head as the car crossed ~1900 rpm. With Bassani on mine, I have some drone at 1900-2000 rpm, but it's more like a very loud roar, like the whole cabin is vibrating. Uphill, 5th gear, 55 mph with steady throttle is bearable, open the throttle a little and you can feel the vibration. With the good weather recently, I've noticed that the effect seems to be lessened with the windows open. And a recording of it doesn't give you the same full effect of the real experience.

I was hoping they didn't drone too much. Is it really bad or just noticeable?

Are you being sarcastic??? My dealer is very strict on mods. But they said I can do anything to the exhaust system as long as I keep the stock cats.

what's the point of doing anything to the "stock" exhaust system if you have to keep the stock cats, they are the only "most" restrictive thing in the the exhaust system.

To get the sound. And you supposedly are losing only 4HP from the cats. Lose the trap and you should be about even.

Mufflers aren't exactly unrestricted either.

I think any kit will drone on this car. Even kits that were not known for droning previously....drone on this car.

The soundclip is acurate, however....not as loud and mean...but the general idea of the sound is there.

I'll try to find my comp mic and see if I can get a soundclip up.
Kahdir said he was going to too....

I have a Borla exhaust question and didn't know if I should start another Borla thread so I hope this isn't considered "off topic".

I was seriously considering getting the Borla cat-back for my GT. My husband took me over to a guy who he's known and dealt with for years that does exhaust systems. When I asked his opinion on which exhaust system to pick (I was also looking at Bassani, Magnaflow, Flowmaster, IMCO with Borla leading the pack) he told me that he liked the Borlas (they sound great) but he said that he has seen many, many Borla stainless exhausts crack after about 13 months. He did tell me that Borla guarantees it's product. However when you have a problem and you contact them they require you to ship the cracked system back to them, they will check it and if it appears it was not due to driver error they will ship out a new one. Total processing time - aprox 2 weeks! Way too long to have the pony out of commission for my liking.

Ok so my question is......has anyone had problems with Borla's cracking?

Try one of the TMS vendors for a deal on the exhaust. Ninosport is one of our sponsors

Who has heard straight pipes compared to Borla?

I have heard straights next to Bassanis, and I have heard Magna's... So far straight pipes are winning my vote..

That clip didnt sway me, someone post who has heard both...

For the price, and the sound.. I dont think it can be beat...

I can always redo it later if I get too many tickets, LOL But, I am going straights with 4" chrome tips, just like rrobello's. Totally copying his, but, dang it is a sick set up.
