I have a Procharger Kit with the stock pulley. I had a custom tune done, with 11.2 A/F. All looked great on a 4th gear pull on the dyno.

But, I logged my car at the track last night and my fuel pressure is dropping to 27psi.

I know a few people are running the MAFia and the BAP. I logged my MAF voltage too and its only reaching 4.8v. I know its almost maxed, but I'm not going to up the boost.

So, for those that have the BAP:

1. Did you install it yourself?

2. Which did you buy (the 20A or the 40A)?

3. Where did you get it? (I was going to buy from KB direct)

4. Did you have to retune with just the BAP?

I searched the boards all morning, and couldn't answer these questions.

Thanks in advance,

Brad

1) depends on your ability, but it is simple
2) 20a for one pump, 40a for a twin pump
3) KB is a good source
4) You shouldn't need a retune, it would depend on how your tuner may or may not have your tune crutched to get the desire a/f.

As a side note, do not hook the BAP as KB reccomends, hook it up as a power supply to the FPDM.

Mike,

Thank you for the info. I'm sure I can install it, I was just curious if others had (to see how they wired it, as I had heard not to do it the way KB recomends on the '05).

I will be re-dynoing after installing it, to see if it had an effect. My hopes are that the A/F will be the same as before on the dyno, but that the pressure does not drop on the street.

How do you use it as a power supply for the driver module (I remember someone mentioning this, but cant remember where)?

Also, what about changing the wiring size? Will this be necessary in my case?

Thanks again,
Brad

Last month in a Ford or Mustang magazine there was a story about this very thing you are asking. Paul's Performance installed a blower on a GT and found it to be very lean and installed a larger fuel pump in each gas tank. Someone weigh in here and tell him which magazine. This will tell you all.

Thanks Bill, I'm going to see if I can find that issue.

Do we have 2 pumps in the '05s?

1 pump,

You can run a piece of 8-10 Gauge from the battery back to the rear of the car (fused near the battery). ending at the FPDM
You will need a Bosch 40a Relay and BAP, and wire as follows:

Cut the white wire for the FPDM, leave some length, do NOT cut it flush with the plug.
Pin #85 connects to the "car side" of the white wire
Pin #86 goes to a GOOD ground
Pin #87 Connects to the 8-10 gauge that you ran back from the battery.
Pin #30 Connects to the fused input wire of the BAP
Pin #87a remains unused
The other heavy red unfused wire of the BAP connects to the "FPDM side" of the white wire.

Now your FPDM can supply up to 17v to the pumps. (assuming that you have adjusted the 40a BAP to do so, i do not think that the smaller one is adjustable.)

You can also upgrade the wire going to the pump from the FPDM. But that wire is fairly heavy and only runs a short distance so it is not a critical as the above.

Mike,

You just made my night. Thank you for the info.

I assume the Pin #'s you mention are on the relay. Is there a specific p/n relay I should use, or can I just pick up a relay from NAPA?

One more question,

Should I just get the 40A BAP, since its adjustable, or will the 20A work out ok? (I think its only like a $40 difference)

Thanks again,
Brad

The 40A BAP is for a dual pump system. The 20A BAP is for a single pump system. Both are adjustable.
I would opt for the 40a, then you will have it if you decide to go to a dual pump setup.

Yes, you can get a relay from NAPA, or any car audio/alarm shop.

I ordered the BAP this morning, it'll be here Wed.

I'll pick up a relay at lunch.

Where is the FPDM located? Is it under the rear seat, in the passenger compartment?

Sorry on the wiring for the relay, 87A remains unused. I corrected my above post.
The FPDM is located in the trunk, along the rear of the spare tire well.

Just wanted to give an update.

BAP is installed, fuel pressure is now a constant 39 psi, even at 6000 rpm. Had to retune just a bit, as the old program was compensating for the lack of fuel pressure up top.

Thanks again Mike for all your help,

Brad
