The only problem I have with this is that David Mann doesn't disclose that he is an Amsoil dealer.

this is a good read and i don't want to bash one brand of oil or another since people here have personal favorites, but i smell some marketing going on here... i'm an advocate of synthetics in general. guess like other products competing in the same market - some people swear by them, some people swear at them. FYI, i have been or plan to (be) do(ing) some, if not most of the suggestions regarding full synthetic lubricant replacement with the vehicles i have own(ed) even before i read this.

Mr. Mann, in his book, states the he uses Amsoil and does not suggest that it is the only oil to use.

In fact he lists quite a few oils for the reader to select from.

I'm usuing Redline 5w20 for its additive package and an Amsoil EAO-11 filter, due to its ability to effectively filter down to 15 microns at 98.7% with a FilterMag on it. I also use 93 Octane Shell V gas. But, I'm very extreme when it comes to how my car runs.

The whole point of the book is to give the novice, like myself, a good understanding of motor oils and oil filters. His statements are based on facts with data to back them up.

Mr. Mann also has an open invitation to anyone who can prove him wrong by supplying his email address and telephone number.

I use Supertech 5W-20, Motorcraft FL-820S oil filters, and the cheapest 87 octane I can find.

Unless RedLine has change their product, that oil is actually a para-syn being a combination of synthethic and mineral oils. So it brings along some of the mineral oil baggage.

There is a nice disertation about oils on the BOSS 302 forum (technical section) written by a guy who appears to be manufacturer impartial. Interesting observation he makes about Amsoil too. Interesting he give the Wal Mart Super Tech oil a very high rating. If you are interested in oils, this article may be of interest to you (forum readers).
