Well, I guess thats what you get on a 1st year model car. Not complaining though as I am so in love with this car. My 05 Gt had a few defects that have to be fixed. Thought I would post these for you guys to check on your on 05's.
1st defect: Passengers fog light faded out on the insde. Caused it to look less bright than the other one. Will be replaced by ford with new one
2nd defect: brake fluid is leaking from the container. Not sure if the leak is around the seal our around the container as it appears to be 2 parts attached together. Not sure on the fix yet.
3rd defect: Rear passengers seat is bolted on about 1/2 an higher then the other one.
4th defect: Front bumper had thin spot of paint infront of passengers headlight. Bumper will be repainted.
5th defect: dents on driver and passengers door where the weatherstrip snaps on. Would need to be repainted in order to fix that defect. Too much repaint on the car so I decided not to fix that defect as you really cant notice it.

The only other minor problem is the CD skipping which is not on my top burner right now in comparison with the other defects.

If I had it my way I would have a new 05 GT on order but I know that Ford would get a good laugh with such request. Just a little aggrevating on a new car and having to repaint it.

Other than that, the car runs great and I am real happy with it. Hope I can get some sleep by the time its ready. Hope to have it by Friday. Just wish I would have seen these defects. I would have probably not accepted the car but by the time all the paperwork was done it was dark and could not wait to drive it off. Next new car though will be inspected in detail before I sign the 1st paper. Live and learn I guess.

Anyways, as I said I am posting these defects so you guys can check out your 05 and make sure you dont have the same or other defects.

For those that have not received there 05 make sure you inspect it as long as you can before you sign any papers otherwise your stuck with it and the possible repairs. Take a freind/relative for a 2 eye. Good look to everyone with there 05's and happy new years!

I haven't found any physical defects yet and the fogs look great!

I'm not to sure I wouldn't take it up with Ford. All of that repainting can severely depreciate your value on that car.

My trunk lid wouldn't fit correctly - it was misaligned.

I took it back to the dealer and they made it better but it's still not perfect. I'll be taking it back again to get perfect. The trunk lid seems like it's bent - wierd.

If it's obviously a problem because of something that happend at the factory like the light and light coat of paint the warranty covers that right?
I appreciate you guys posting these problems because I will not get my GT until March, and I will check these items out especially the trunk and the lights.

The warranty covers all that as long as you point it out to them between 1-2 weeks but do you want a repainted bumper or door? Once you sign the papers that baby is yours. The only thing your dealership will do is fix any defects. The fog light or anything that can be replaced is no big deal. But when it comes to body repair, its just not something you want on a new car. Thats why you want to inspect your car in detail. If possible, dont get it if its dark. Pick a time during the day so can see all the details. Better safe than sorry.

My car was delivered and the dealer fixed a dent most likely caused by the transport vehicle. It was above the passenger side window on to the roof, it required repainting. Dealer let me know I could take the car with a few free oil changes or I could refuse the order and place a new one and wait until March for it to get here. I took the oil changes knowing that many vehicles have this happen and most consumers never notice or even know it took place.

I agree with everyone, check the car over for paint flaws before driving away.

Best to check the car out after it has been detailed on a sunny day or in a well lighted area.

Paint and body flaws are inevitable, and quite a few times, cars are re-worked at the factory, or have any flaws repaired before delivery.

The paint flaw on the front bumper was probably the cause of a supplier. Most places that make front/rear fasicas also paint them for the company. I am guessing it probably slipped through quality control.

Good luck. It may be more serious than the trunk lid. I know the 05 is supposed to have much better panel alignment than the previous model, but on my 99 the trunk lid set out from the body at least 1/4 " towards the rear of the car on the passenger side only. There were no adjustments that could be made to correct it. The misalignment was in the body of the car.

I have the some of the same issues you have. I notice brake fluid and thought - oops someone spilled a bit filling it up, so I cleaned it up and a week later noticed there was more brake fluid all over the place.

My passenger side fog light is also "fogged up" - no pun intended.

Passenger side windshield wiper needs to be replaced.

Broken clip that holds one of the interior trunk panels in place.

Screw came loose, and almost fell out, that holds the passenger side wheel well to the front bumper.

Big scratch in the aluminum door sill plate cover.

FORD is going to fix everything, but I have not told them about the brake fluid problem yet.

A good dealer will fix it for free. Don't worry.

It doesn't have to be noticed in 2 weeks. You can do it 2 years after purchase since we automatically have a 3 year warrantee.
