You're not worried about your motor grenading? The stock connecting rods are rated at 400 rwhp with a max of 425. What did your installer say?

royb,
HPP? I see your in Irving. I'm in Dallas, who is HPP and where are they located. How can I contact them. I've been looking for a good installer / tuner. I'm not impressed with Dallas Mustang.
Can I ask, what was your out the door cost?

Most opinions set the "safe" level at 450rwhp, not 400 or 425. There are a couple dozen guys I know of running between 425-450rwhp (many of them for several months now) without any issues. It's all about the tune. Keep some timing out of it and you don't have to worry as much about "bad gas" causing you problems.

saleen has some set ups well over 500 hp - I am in the know!
don't believe the uninformed.

e... I just was noting that 400 or 425 hp was well below the generally recognized "safe" number. Anyone running 500 or more (and expecting it to last) had better have a dam good tune, and good fuel available at all times. That is not an area where amatuers should venture.

Yup, I tune the Vortech kits with stock pump and plugs to around 450rwhp, larger pump-llines and plugs upto 480-500rwhp. I beleive 500rwhp is the number with the stock setup for long life but that's just me.
Funny I made dang near the same numbers but the dyno graph from the Vortech are greatly different. I love the way your torque numbers are so very high at the start of the run where as with the Vortech the lines are weird as they both follow the same curve, HP and TQ. THe TQ though goes very high just before it starts dropping off but the HP never goes down, even at 6500 rpm's.
Thanks, Doug.

I like how you edited that second part just before I quoted you...good save. FWIW, the timestamp is obviously not an issue since people who are asking know what to look for and what they are talking about. I'm sure people on this forum are a little more intelligent than that. How could MORE than one person miss that?

Well, I am glad you love how I did that because I did it just for you...
How could more than one person miss it? Probably the same way that more than one person missed the fact that all the info is in his signature file. But who's to say.
Actually, I wasn't even going to comment back, but figured I would at least let you know that I appreciate how much you like the way I do things since it is so important that I care that you care.

That made feel all squishy inside
I hate you..... I had just basically convinced myself that I do NOT have the money for a blower (Saleen was top of the list) and won't till at least halfway through 2007...........
And now the VIRUS is planted again.......
AAARRRGHRGHHH!!!! :bang:
Nice numbers and way to go man - and I love how it still looks stock. Is the blower fairly quiet?

Yep, right after I left my tuner HPP I raced a 2006 Dodge Viper from a 35 mph roll & I beat him TWICE
I pulled on him fast & hard & he gave it all it had. I'm 50% sure I could beat the 06 viper from a start line too. (i might have some traction issue) but I think I would catch the viper & drive right by them.

Engine - 505 c.i.
HP - 500
Tourque - 525
Weight - 3410
Top speed - 190
0-60 mph - 4.0
(thats what most magazines have it at, there may be some variance)
They have us dominated in every category.
Don't get me wrong though, you have a sweet set up that I envy.

Hi Don, I agree on all your points but the"safe" number or even having a number. The number can go very high will everything working correctly or can't get past the stock 300 if has bad gas, tune,or other problems. I have guys running 700+ hp NA cast piston, rods & 2 bolt crank every season with no problems (not a mustang). the parts will hold up very well under the right conditions for a fairly long time. Check out the book on Street Supercharging & Richard Holdners books with his dyno pulls.

i am fixing to run the saleen blower, with all my other mods listed below, except the underdrives, obviously i will not be running it with the saleen tune, but it will be tuned by the installer. now if i run it with the stock pulley, i should have no durability/reliability issues correct? i use this baby as my daily driver, and no drive-no work-no money. this is why i dont wanna go nuts with the blower. am i gonna need sub-frames or anything like that? just need a little power to help squirt thru that nyc traffic.
