Blower install?...word to the wise

Just figured I'd put my experience this weekend out there. I pulled my Procharger system off and installed it on my boy's '05 this past weekend. My car was running great at 11 psi, no problems at all at 9k miles. His car has almost 30k miles on it and ran perfect before the install. After I was done the car wouldn't idle even after setting the idle up higher with the Predator. Got up on Sunday morning and decided to pull his throttle body and maf sensor off for a cleaning. Problem solved. On a newer car I wouldn't think it's necessary, but he has almost 30k miles

So are you getting a new s/c or just wanted to take the procharger off?

I'm going Whipple. The boy wanted some boost so I hooked him up for a great deal and decided to buy what I wanted from the beginning, but wasn't available yet. The Procharger system has been flawless and I highly recommend it especially for track use. Their customer service is top notch. I originally bought a $49 extended warranty on the head unit which included 3 oil change bottles. Well, I recently sent it back for a tiny leak and they not only rebuilt the head unit, but also re-balanced the impeller and sent it back 2nd day air with 3 more oil change bottles. No charge at all.

You doing the Whipple install yourself? Let us know how that goes. I'd love to get blown within the next year.

Yeah, I'll be doing it myself. I already downloaded the install manual to familiarize myself with it before the kit shows up. It looks pretty cut and dry, but should take more time than the Procharger did. I put the entire Procharger system (dual pumps and all) on my boys car in one long day. That ain't gonna happen with the Whipple. Probably 2 days work from what I see.

Hey Anthony (great name by the way ), let me know how it goes. Im thinking about ordering the Whipple non-intercooled to start off, and get the intercooler for xmas.

Don't even bother with the non-intercooled Whipple if you know you'll be upgrading. I costs way more to upgrade than to do it off the bat. I'm wishing I'd done the intercooled Whipple and saved myself some time and money.

The install went well. I'd say about 15-16 hours by myself and I'm a mechanic. If you have had some experience with mechanic work I say go for it, but pay close attention to what the hell you're doing. The overall fit and finish is great. Looks and runs flawless.
