BBK Shorty Installed and Custom Tuned

I had the BBK shorty's installed today at livernois and had the car custom tuned.
Unfortunately I did not get a baseline pull so no definative answer on numbers from the shorty headers, however I can definately tell a differnece. Not sure how much is from the tune and how much from the headers.
The car made 300rwhp and 312rwtq on a dynojet (plot attached).
Mods are in my sig but basically i have the headers, MRT catted H Pipe, MRT axleback, C&L intake. overall i am very happy with results and it feels like a new car compared to the mail order tune i was running.

Those are good numbers for having only exhaust with shortys ,intake and tune. Basicly the same performance mods as me.

yeah, I am very happy with the numbers.
per my wideband, i had a very conservative mail tune from alternative auto. it ran extremely rich at w/o throttle, about 10.5:1, seems to be much more reasonable now.

That's almost dead on for when I had the C&L intake, BBK shorties, Bassani catted xpipe and Mac muffler, followed by a custom dyno tune.

With all that new found power, you'll soon hunger for cams...

Seem to me Shorties are good for something after all aren't they.

Hmm I seem to recall saying that a few times and it being dismissed as false. Now another person with Dyno proof that they work. May not be LT number but they do help and that is what counts.

Good Job.

As I recall (I have the dynos around), I think stock I was at 268hp. I did the cold air first (and muffler, but that's for 0 gain there)and got 23hp, which jibes with lots of other folks. I followed up with the BBK shorties and bassani catted x, which put me at 300. The stage III comp cams and retune yield 323. Finally, I swapped out the shorties and xpipe, put in JBA longtubes and offroad h-pipe, and steeda underdrive pullies, and ended up with my current numbers. Track times aren't optimal since I've been trying to tune the rear suspension, but I think I've got an easy 12.2 or better once the air gets cooler here in MD and I get my 60ft times back down to the 1.6s.

Here's the sound with the cams, BBK shorties and Mac muffler: http://media.putfile.com/Comp-Stage-3-cams . Personally, that sounds way better than my longtube setup, but the LTs definately helped my overall quarter mile times (although the shorty/xpipe combo dropped my times 3/10ths). Just depends what you want out of the car. Several of the local s197 guys around here copied my shorty exhaust setup when they tried my car out compared with theirs.

jwgroovin, your car sound very good...

I really wish i was able to get a baseline, then BBK's, then tune.
I really wonder how much of benefit (Seat of the pants feel) is from the custom tune and how much is from the headers. I can definately tell a difference, the car has a little more in the low end but I really notice it in the mid range.

mlgstang, I'm not sure where you are in the country, but when cool air shows up I have a feeling you will REALLY notice a seat of the pants change.

plus this morning it was about 65deg. I had some fun driving into work this morning.
This fall should be even better.
