I love the way the Bassanis sound when I'm cruising down the highway. However, in traffic, I am having a hard time getting past the drone inside the car. Nevertheless, it has only been one day since I installed. I felt the same way when I had dual exhaust put on my F150. Now I love the sound on the truck. Maybe I just need to get used to it.

Anybody with Bassanis have any comments?

I have had my Bassanis for about a month. The most noticeable drone I have experienced is under light throttle, in a high gear at low rpms.

I am not bothered by it. As soon as a let off the throttle, it goes away. I have experienced very little if any drone at 75 mph cruising speed.

I think they are great.

I noticed the drone at the same time. High gear, low RPM. I was a little bothered by it at first but when you are on the throttle it sounds so great that I can put up with a little drone. Also, crusing on the highway at 60 and above I don't hear it so it is not that often you get it. Also, I have noticed that I get the drone more when it is cold out and until the system warms up. Anyone else get that or am I just crazy?

How different is the sound of the Bassanis with the X-pipe and compcats?

You are not crazy. It is louder when cold.

Haha, one morning in March it was so cold that when I first pulled out of my driveway the drone was so loud I thought something had come loose Everything was really fine and now that it is summer I hardly notice the drone except for like we were saying at high speed and low RPM.

Hmmm, never thought about it until now, but mine do seem to have less drone now that it is warm. I thought maybe it was because they have broken in? They seem to be a little louder now, and I can hear them more at highway speeds, plus they seem to have some more rumble on decel. Am I nuts? I love them more everyday!

They are loud with compcat and xpipe, especially under load at low speeds, once your cruising its not to loud, but when taking off etc. sure can growl quite nice and loud.

Just wanted to say thanks for the topic and the info! I'm going to be ordering the Bassani axle-back soon and was looking for as many opinions as I could find. Did anyone find a really good deal on the SS... I was thinking of going with NinoSport but thought I'd ask.

Thanks!

I did the install of the Bassani's myself and it really wasn't bad. I have a few pics up on this new forum I found and I will be adding more later:

One picture that is great is the one I took of the stock cats and H pipe laying next to the Bassani cats and X pipe assembly. It shows the drastic difference in flow.

Overall I love the pipes

Do you have your HC trap out? I installed my Bassani's after I had taken the HC trap out. A while back I decided to put the HC back in and noticed it was not as bad.

Anybody notice that after about 500 miles, there is more rumble on decel? Today I even noticed it between shifts. I love it!

I took my HC trap out and have not put it back in. I really don't think it matters much either way. The main gains in power come from the X pipe and the extremely smaller cats. Here is one of the pictures from my gallery that shows it:

The rest of the gallery is at:

The rumble on decel is awesome! I love my exhaust even with the drone.

Ok, I'm selling my Bassanis. Anyone in Houston interested in part number 46055 Axle-back SS let me know. They are stainless.

Will sell for $550.

Why do Bassanis drone so much? They look similar in design to a basic Magnaflow muffler, (no drone) only slightly smaller...

I have no idea, but the drone is very hard to get passed. I have tried to get used to it for a couple of weeks. Today driving home from work I didn't enjoy the freeway, or much of anything...and decided enough is enough.

I'm going to go with the Magnaflows.

I bought the Flowmaster Axle back and it drones in high gear at low rpm. I think most of them will.

I think it is worse with an Auto Trans like mine. I have resorted to clicking off the overdrive under 50 (around town) and the drone goes away about 95%.

Had I not discovered the OD off solution I was going to sell the Flowmasters and put the stock ones (with mod tips) back on.

On the freeway no drone. On acceleration, sounds awesome.
