Does anyone know if in PA the installation of Bassani high flow cats that come with the x-pipe is illegal? Will I pass inspection with them? I live in an area that falls under Philadelphia guidelines and I need cats at least to pass visually. I have also heard about the shop and myself needing to fill out paper work if I do this certifying that the old cats were defective, is this true?

I have installed the axle-back Bassani mufflers and a C&L CAI. This is to be my last mod (unless I breakdown and SC) and wanted to know should I go with the cats or just the x-pipe?

 

Well the comp cats are awesome and with there xpipe and axle back is supposed to have 20 hp without tune, and approx 40 hp with tune according to some mustang 5.0 magazine article. In my state which is mo. I was told they will pass emissions and a visual check. But if you live in a state where they look for serialized numbers on the cat, then supposedly they wouldnt pass. But in mo. its just emissions and possible visual check. they dont put it on a lift and look for numbers here. You may want to call bassani like I did and see what your state's deal is. Good luck. FYI, there may be good information on your State's inspection procedures and requirements. I'm in NY - check this page out - very detailed. Actually, even if you're not in NY, this may be helpful as many states probably perform similar emissions tests.
