Bama tunes who has them and a tuner ??
Bama tunes who has them and a tuner ??
First off who has Bama tunes? Which tunes do you have? Did you have tunes from other vendors as well?? How do they compare?
I picked up a
87 tune for headers and max mpg's
93 performance
93 race
I have tried the max mpg tune and I thought it would have netted me some better mpg's
Just installed my intake and the 93 performance tune. I'll check that out tomorrow.
SCT question is do you guys know how to save a tune from the tuner to your laptop?
Thanks for the replies

i have new wireless one, i love it personally,
87 street
93 performance
93 race
have LT header, O/R H pipe, CAI
and Street is for street ..... no joke right haha, performance is for hwy like its more responsive in higher RPMS and race is all around power.
also from experince i get the best mpg from performance on hwy, i have a picture i took when i got off interstate of making 27.5 MPG at like 72-75 MPH for 60 miles (My hwy miles to work). haven't tryied any other but this tune seems to be everything they preach about man. After i get my Borla cat back and pull upgrade i'm taking it to dyno to squeeze out every HP i can get.

does the race tune have to be 93? I plan on flashing my race tune 93 once my semester is over and I'm done commuting non stop but I was wondering if I can get the race tune in 87 octane.
But as for the OP, I have bama tunes and love them!! I prefer the performance(87) tune over my street tune. I feel I have more overall power and low end torque. But I could just be misled by the name or what not.

Through Bama, I believe 91 is as low as you can go with the race tune...

That's what I thought an remember reading now. Thanks
I use the 91 cause 93 is harder to find... I can find 91 all over the place... And since I don't track the car (or race it at all), 91 is good enough for me...
If you have a few bolt on parts and just want to get a little more out of your car, the email tunes work fine... I have been running tunes from Bama since 2006 and have never had a problem...
Dyno tune up here = $500-$600 for about 4 or 5 pulls and a guy to plug in his laptop through my OBDII port. For $200 I can get 2 pulls and a basic tune from the same guy with his laptop. Every time I install a power adder it's going to cost me x amount to Dyno Tune or I can get Bama to email me their "canned tunes" after having invested in their tuner previously.
Bama = money saver but not necessarily mpg friendly. Cost may overrule necessity in certain instances. Cam work I can see needing a Dyno tune whereas a ram-air lr cold-air intake obviously is not. My suggestion to you is to map out a game plan of WHAT you are going to do with the motor and THEN get everything done at the same time with a good tuner who has access to a Dyno. I can't drop my hard earned money on a Dyno Tune that won't solidify all of the pieces I've amassed and installed that won't work copecetically together. Forged bottom end, cams, heads, valvetrain, exhaust, etc etc. Everything should be mapped out for your end goal, not just throwing it into a money pit. :sigh:

Unfortunately there aren't any good dyno shops down here in the boonies.
I've read lots of good stuff about bama tunes. In addition to tuning for your mods, they greatly improve throttle response. And Chris has posted (some time ago) that they try and keep records about general fuel quality in different locations. Plus - as I understand it, the ECU still has adaptive learning active (open loop?). So the bama tunes can dial things up with a custom tune, but the ECU still is going to adjust (timing, A/F, VCT) to keep it from going to the edge, right?
Can't get 93 around here, so I'd be gettin' an 87 & 91. One reason I'd like to get an SCT is to back up my factory Bullitt tune. If something went haywire now I'd have to pay the Dealer bucks to get a fresh tune loaded - and hope it was the correct Bullitt tune from the factory.

I had to run the 87 one a few weeks ago to go get my car smogged and I was definitely missing the race tune I had in there... Put the CAI & race tune back in as soon as I got home!

These are emailed tunes from bama. The tunes in the tuner came from Tillman along with the sct tuner. Tillmans race tune pretty much kicks azz. That is the one I would like to get from the tuner to my laptop. When you install a new tune to the sct it overwrites one of the old tunes. I only know how to get the tunes from my LT to the tuner. I kinda hate to lose that race tune from tillman

Tillman was by Chris who went to Bama/AM. Surely he can reproduce for you (if it isn't already offered by Bama/AM as their race tune.)
