With all the money we spend on our rides , I wouldnt think that would be the choice to put in . It might have been designed to be very functional , but the looks are greatly lacking .

Maybe to some folks, but then again some folks (myself included) think it looks great. Personally I don't like the stock unit at all, but that's just me.

Thanks, Doug.

Doug, post when you get yours installed....the above pic just doesn't look nice at all...perhaps it looks better installed.....

I've actually liked all the pictures except one which looked a little odd, but then it's hard to always get a good picture.

Doug, I too would be very interested in pictures of it installed, especially a side shot showing the shifter to dash clearance when the shifter is in the forward position. Another thing that would be very interesting would be a video with sound of the shifter running through the gears so we could get idea of how it functions.

/me crawls out from under rock.... I sure missed this one. I've been waiting FOREVER for a new shifter. I definitely want it to have the looks AND the performance. Will it have the performance? Heck yeah, it's B&M, I'm not even concerned about that. Do I like the looks? Honestly, it could be better. As someone else posted before, I really like the styling on that QuickSilver! The things I like that are different are the raised bezel, the flat/bent stick and CHROME! B&M logo? Keep it on there please! I understand if the stick can't be flat, what about the raised bezel? Any chance of getting it in chrome? If not, could I send it somewhere and have it chrome plated?

As far as the decision to buy, done deal. I'll buy it even if it looks exactly like the one pictured, the day I see it available. Definitely be getting one of those "T" handles too, so Doug stock them with it. Any update on availability? I called and heard it will be a couple more months. -Joe

Yeah, on the other thread, Subzero said that there will be a delay of a few months because B&M is acquiring another big manufacturer of competition shifters, although he can't say which one.

But I think he's going to try and do a group buy for TMS members thru Doug at Bamachips, so stay tuned.......

I agree it could look better. But I think back to my younger days at the local bar. The later it got the not so pretty girls got better looking. The old saying is "form over function" I think we may have to go with "function over form".

So now that the acquisition of Hurst is official, can we revive this and get a time estimate? -Joe

I just drove a Jeep Commander (rental vehicle) with a similar shifter. The big difference being that it moved left to right, which actually was very comfortable once you got use to it with a fairly short through. We were driving on the road to Hana on Maui (617 curves, 53 bridges, 52 miles, 3 Hours (if you don't stop to smell the flowers)) The road is a single lane with yield signs in places (many places) so hot shoeing is not possible although a few of the idiot locals were trying. Being able to easily manually shift the Jeep was great. There was no delay (or very very little) when downshifting and on some of the more than 180 degree horseshoe curves it was extremely helpful. It would be really interesting to be able to take this road in a Mustang if you were sure no one was coming the other way. The problem is running off the road even at low speed would be a 500 foot drop to the lava rocks on the beach in a lot of places. As Capt. Jack says, "Not good". If the B&M shifter works as good as the Jeep unit it's going to be an awesome addition to my Mustang.

Chris, what is the shift through on the B&M unit?

Here's a shot so you can get an idea of just how narrow some of these roads are and how close your planning horizon is on some of the curves.
