automatic guys - question

installing an off road x-pipe on my buddy's 2006 auto vert. I had no problems removing my factory h-pipe on my 07 manual, but his seems to be a different story. I'm having a hard time accessing both nuts connecting the h-pipe to the manifold flanges. specifically the nuts on the motor side. any tips/tricks to gaining access to these nuts and getting the factory h-pipe off?

I have an 05 Vert auto trans car and it's been a long time since I removed the factory catted H-pipe but I had to use an 1/2 drive 18" long extension with a swivel on the socket end to get the nuts closet to the motor off. I remember this because I specfically went and bought that 18" entension at Sears for that job. Hope that helps.
