So I am considering selling my Predator - not because I don;t like it, but because I have heard such great things about both Bamachips and Alt Auto's tunes for the automatic GT. And I really want the best for my baby.

I figure I will sell my predator and buy the Xcal 2..... but which tune??? Truthfully, with all I have read, Lidio and Atl Auto are in the lead..... but any mention on here I have seen of Bamachips tune in an auto has been great as well - anyone running one of these tunes who feels like commenting, please go ahead - thanks!!!

I got my tune from Doug at Bamachips today and I can say that I am completely satisfied. Mine is an automatic with the K&N air charger and the difference is like night and day. I have heard good things about Alt Auto also but I would highly recommend Doug at Bamachips.

Well, I may be out of line here, I have a manual. And I've read positive comments about Alt Auto, so I'm in no shape-form-or fasion putting them or their tunes down, I'm sure their great, as is BamaChips.

I can say, as I have many times before, that I've never received such customer service and support in my life than I received from Doug at BamaChips and I couldn't be happier with my tunes.

I read a post lately that someone had purchased a used SCT unit that they didn't purchase from Doug, they called him on a Friday night for help, he helped them out & guided them through all the steps. Didn't charge them a penny. That speaks Volumes in my opinion to his Customer Support and Character. Will that always happen, maybe not, but remember the guy has a family and a personal life.

Ever automatic owner and manual owner that has used him and bothered to post their experience has had nothing but Praise for him and his tunes.

Good luck with your selection. I'm sure either one can provide you with excellent tunes for your automatic.

I sold my predator, and went with Alt. Auto. I spoke with Lidio several times, and I couldn't be happier.

I have an Xcal2 with k&n tune from bamachips. It rocks IMO.
I went to the track for the first time in my life with no other mods than k&n and tune and consistantly ran 13.8.. 's so I know for sure if I get better at launching I'd be in the mid 13's. I love chirping the tires with an automatic when it shifts to 2nd and 3rd now

I am certainly not knocking Alt Auto and since my stuff from Doug at Bama should be "in the mail" - I cannot comment on the result. What I can sincerely say is that I have not really worked on cars since the late 60's and this computer tuning, etc is all new to me. I sent emails and made calls to tuners, etc asking what were probably a bunch of "dumb hiney questions". I got two replys back. One was in the "trust me" category and the other from Doug was personal, answered all my questions, and then anwered some more followup "what ifs" - he never pushed for a sale and I felt like he was shooting straight. If my tune is half as good as Doug has been - I will be satisifed I have not ever had this kind of postive response from any website or from most regular business transactions.,

Yea I had the same experience with Doug, I probably went back and forth with about 5-6 questions then variations of what if's on the answers etc etc. Very nice to work with. Especially when usually dealing with anything over the internet is typically so impersonable. I got the feeling Doug was right there answering my questions. There was just a 1 day lag back and forth because I was using email, LOL

Ok... I realize that this is an GT thread and I have a V6. But I wanted to add my little story..

I originally bought my X-Cal2 from Justin at VMP. Great guy, great customer service. I thought the tunes were great! Then I read about Lidio. I gave him a call and found out he was starting to do the 05 V6's. So I took day off work and head to his shop (1.5 hours away). Nothing against Justin... and I don't know how Doug's tune is... But I can tell you when Lidio builds a tune it's COMPLETE! We loaded up an 89 Octane tune and I immediately felt a difference! This was compared to the 93 Octane tune I had been running... I have the automatic... throttle was better, ALL the torque reduction was removed. (justin appears to have missed some)... The shifts are AWESOME! heck, i'm chirpping my 1-2 (some times 2-3) shifts with my little V6 and BIG BALLOON TIRES! LOL!

I'm a really newbie... But Lidio has bent over backwards to explain things to me and really help eductate me... Heck, I've never even been to a drag strip before... So what did Lidio do.. He INVITED me to tag along with my car... Now I promised my wife I personally wouldn't drive (long story) so Lidio hoped in my car and ran it so we could see what the car would do!

So while I can't directly compare Lidio to Doug I can tell you that you won't go wrong with Lidio and Alternative Auto...

Did you happen to see the video I posted of Lidio's 05 GT turn an 11.99 last Friday night? LOL!

Oh... and one final thing... Lidio's 89 Octane tune shave .25 off my 0-60 time compared to Justin's 93 Octane tune...

This graph show's Lidio's tune vs Justin's in a 0-60... you can actually see where the tires spin a little bit on the shifts on Lidio's MPH graph... LOL

Thanks so much to all who have replied so far - it isn't making it easier to decide as things seem to be split - but on a POSITIVE note, we have two camps of auto drivers who are all SUPER happy with their cars and tunes - man that rocks.

Scrming - I really appreciated your PM the other day and am glad you chimed in here - turthuflly I wanted input from ANYONE no matter what car who has delat with them.

I sent an email through the bamachips website to Doug Sunday and haven;t heard anything back..... wonder is they are having problems from that storm....

Thanks Mike - yeah I have read all the articles on JDM and know they know their stuff.....

On a sidenote, I had just fiinished putting up my last post and that part about not hearing back from Doug from Bamachips.... and three minutes later, check my inbox and there's my response (doyyy...)

And man he wrote me a small book chock full of info. As someone earlier said, I too have had plenty of the 'trust me' responses and the 'come on in and we'll get it done' with no details that to actually get such a detailed personal response goes a long way with me.

Sidenote - does Bamachips have an actualy shop you can visit??? I didn;t see anything on their site.....

I have been trading PMs with Doug off and on for the past week. I had a ton of questions, and he answered them all. BUT... right when I am on the verge of ordering an X-2 before the 8/31 deadline, all of a sudden Doug quits responding to me????? I sent him a a couple more follow-up question on Friday, and then again on Sunday (same questions) and still no response. No doubt that he is busy, but time is ticking...

I also was in the middle of some emails with Doug. I bet that the hurricane has messed up phone lines, power, etc. Alabama got hit hard although not as bad as New Orleans and Biloxi, etc.
