at what rpm are u powerbraking too? what tires psi are u going with? the otherday i had a real bad wheel hop which i only had maybe 1or 2 other times. this time it hooped 3 times at the line and took off. i ran a 13.5 at 102.8 mph. it felt good but i know if i didnt have this hoop i would have hit 13.4 which is my target. i really dont want to add anymore mods since i leased this vechicle.what do u recommend for better times?

I'm in a bit of a quandry myself.

Up until a couple months ago, I was running Nitto 275/50-17 street tires and a Predator tune. I could powerbrake to about 2500rpm on the launch.

Then in early Sept, I switched to a BamaChips X2 tune. This tune gave me so much more low end torque, that I couldn't get over 2000rpm on the powerbrake before my wheels would start to turn/creep. So, I either had to live with worse 60' times or risk redlighting because the car rolled a couple inches. So, I got a set of MT drag radials, 275/40-17. These helped some, but even they start to creep at around 2200rpm. At least my 60' times have dropped down below where they were a couple months ago. But, I'd like to be able to get back to at least 2500rpm on the launch.

Also, I'm sure after so many runs (and burnouts), my rear brakes are getting pretty wasted. This is hurting my ability to powerbrake also. But I want to hold off on replacing them until I get a linelock (otherwise, I'll just waste a second set).

Eventually, I'll probably look at upgrading the torque converter. But, I want to make sure whatever I get is compatible with the blower I plan on installing.

Lately, I've been kinda flashing the RPM with power braking. I hold at least 1500 rpm during the final stage light and start giving it more gas as the lights go down. I believe Im letting it flash to about 2000 to 2200 before I let off the brake and hit the gas to the floor.

The give point is basically 2200 rpm and no more with those stock tires.

the last time I was at the track, I was powerbraking at about 2500 rpm.
I was talking to the guy in the lane next to me, and he told me to flash the converter. Basically, I just let the car idle at the line, and then just nailed the gas. I dropped 1/10 doing that.

I don't powerbrake. I just nail the gas. 13.5 at 103mph, with intake, tune,exhaust.

I had heard something similar, and I tried it a few times. My RT and 60' times got worse. The car seemed to respond very sluggishly from an idle. Maybe I need to experiment with that technique some more, as well as Dan's. Can't hurt to keep testing new ways.

I have had better look in my runs not powerbraking. I have my left foot on the brake and right foot right over the accelerator. When I'm ready, I simutaneously let up on the brake and hit the accelerator. I've practiced a bit to get down the exact speed at which I hit the gas. But this works best for me. With all my mods and pushing 320 HP at the rear wheels, plus Doug's 93 octane torque tune, I have trouble powerbraking even to 1500 rpm without spinning the tires when I let her go.

The other thing that can be done is playing with the idle RPM when in drive. Push it up in RPM so you can get into your power band quicker for that better 60 foot. I've never posted a better 60 foot without powerbraking but thats just me.

I think my problem may be weight transfer. I probably need to invest in some LCA's one day down the line. Powerbraking is definitely the way to go... just haven't had any luck with it. Maybe once I get my 285's on the rear... that may also help too.

I'm going to experiment some more this week at the track. And Doug's torq tune, while awesome overall, does introduce some new challenges getting these cars from 1500-2000rpm up to 3500rpm without blowing the tires off. If we can perfect a launch technique, then we can harness that new low-end torque for our advantage!

Ditto here, too.

I agree completely. After installing Doug's 93 torque tune yesterday, I have to relearn how to drive this car, especially accelerating hard from a stop. Once I get it down though, along with wider tires in the back and possibly some LCA's, as well as a couple more bolt-ons, I see 12's in my future.

I still have the stock gears. I couldn't find anyone around me to install them for less than $500. Maybe one day down the line when I have some extra cash, I'll change out the gears.

Very nice numbers. I really need to get to a track and officially test my times. I may just be in the 12's right now and not know it.

Yes, very nice indeed. I envy those of you who have good tracks nearby. I can't really compare my times to other places... I'll just have to be satisfied comparing them to how others do on the same tracks as me.

I am selling my g-timer passport for $50 plus shipping. This comes in handy if you are like me and don't have a track around and want to get accurate 60 ft., 0-60, 1/8 mile and 1/4 mile times. It would also come in handy for anyone who goes to the track, but wants to practice launching on the streets before they get to the track. I'll start a thread in he for sale section... but anyone who reads this and is interested, PM me. The timer is not 100% accurate as far as HP ratings... but extrememly accurate with times. And it's in like new condition.

Did you track prep at all? Like remove the spare, 1/4 tank of gas?

I was with my 1/2 gas tank. and my spare was still in the trunk.
This time was made with 94 oct with 93 tune. With 91 my best was 13.31 but hard to say if it's the tune or the track as all my previous time were made on a track without glue. My best time was made on the last competition day, so the track was fully prepared. And the temp was about 5°C
